Member News | Winter 2013/2014

For 29 years, RPC has supported the ROM’s overall mission to build community by nurturing discovery and inspiring wonder. This special tradition of annual giving to the ROM enriches the collections, programming and international research that brings the Museum to life.

Dear RPC Members,

’Tis the season for celebrating! During the ROM’s centennial year, we will commemorate RPCs 30 years of ROM support. I have been privileged and proud to be an RPC donor since 1997 and I look forward to sharing this momentous occasion with all of you in 2014. While we will be honouring RPC founders and reflecting on our past accomplishments as a group, we also want to create a vision of RPC for the next 30 years. And so it is my great pleasure to introduce Ian Madell, Chair of a new RPC Committee that will focus on increasing funds raised for the ROM. Ian comes to RPC with a great love of the Museum and excitement for growing the RPC program.

Over the coming months, Im sure many of you will meet Ian and share your ideas for the future of RPC. At this time, he is actively recruiting new RPC Committee members. If you are interested in learning more about this committee, please email or call Mischa Mueller at 416.586.5842.

There will be more reasons than ever to visit the ROM during our centennial year. Remember, RPC are the only donors to the ROM who enjoy transferable membership cards. This remains a favourite benefit and a fantastic one to promote to your colleagues, friends and family. As Members you are our best ambassadors, and Ian and I encourage you to refer a friend and help grow RPCs vital base of support. For each Member who successfully refers a friend to join, we will provide special acknowledgement.

Thirty years ago, a small group of ROM supporters started an annual giving program to support their beloved Museum. Today, RPC has over 850 members and raises more than $1 million every year for the ROM’s highest priorities. Thank you so much for your support and we look forward to celebrating this legacy and our bright future with you at our RPC events over the coming months.

Warm wishes to you and your family this holiday season,

Harriet Walker,
Chair, RPC Ambassadors

Centennial Memory Book

The ROM Governors office is reaching out to Members and donors to support the Love the ROM Campaign with a special gift in honour of the Museum's centennial next year.

Donors who give $1,000 or more are invited to share their unique ROM stories, memories, or wishes to loved ones in the future, in a commemorative centennial book that will become a permanent part of the ROM collections for generations to come.

When the Duke of Connaught opened the ROM on March 19, 1914, Sir Edmund Walker—the Museum’s first chairman—presented him with an illuminated manuscript as a memento. The centennial memory book is a modern version of this historic manuscript and will feature artwork by Rachel Ann Lindsay. Her drawings will complement selected stories and bring our community’s ROM memories to life.
