When: Every Tuesday and Thursday (excluding Thanksgiving) from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m., November 14, 2017 through   March 8, 2018
Ongoing Opportunity

About : Volunteers will report half an hour before the scheduled opening to help sort new donations and set up the closet for the day and, new for this year, should be prepared to stay for up to half an hour after closing to clean up and put away any new donations that may come in during the session. In addition, this year volunteers will use an iPad to register customers coming in to select coats. We hope that with this system, repeat customers will be easily located, and their record can be updated much more quickly than in previous seasons. In order to ensure that as many volunteers receive guidance on using the iPad, Cornerstones will be holding a special 1-hour training session on Tuesday, November 14, from 3 to 4 PM to go over using the software and the basic rules for the closet. If you register to help using the link above, we strongly encourage you to also sign up to attend this meeting. It will give us the chance to thank you personally for your support, and you will be able to ask any questions you may have of one of our staff. About: For many in our community with stressed budgets and financial challenges, a Thanksgiving dinner just isn’t possible. Your support of Cornerstones’ annual Thanksgiving Basket Food Drive will help make a fulfilling holiday possible for nearly 1,000 families this season. The list below includes everything that should be included in a single donation. Please do not place gift card donations inside the box – have them ready to hand to a staff member or volunteer when you drop off your donation. ·        1 box of rice or a 2-5 lb. bag of rice
·        1 box of biscuit or muffin mix
·        1 snack (pretzels, chips, nuts, etc)
·        1 box of dessert mix
·        2 lb. bag of flour
·        2 lb. bag of sugar
·        1 $25 gift card (Giant/Safeway/Shoppers card for the purchase of a turkey/ham entrée. We do not have the capacity to store of accept perishable items.)

Where: Arlington National Cemetery, McClellan Gate, between Sections 33 and 12
When:  Public can enter the cemetery at 8 a.m., Opening Ceremony starts at 9:30 a.m., wreath laying will begin at 10 a.m.

About: Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, the mission to  Remember, Honor and Teach  is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as over 1,100 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea, and abroad. There is no age limit to volunteer. We encourage families to come and share the experience. Sign up here. 1/27: Wreaths Across America Clean-Up Day
               
Where: Arlington National Cemetery, McClellan Gate, between Sections 33 and 12
When:  Gates open at 8 a.m., Volunteer Instructional Briefing at 8:30 a.m., wreath clean-up begins at 8:45 a.m.
One Time Opportunity

About: Join us on Saturday, January 27, 2018 for Wreath Retrieval/Clean-up Day! This is a family oriented event and we encourage families of all ages to participate. Just show up at the designated time and place! Volunteers are asked to pick up ONLY those WAA wreaths placed in December, leaving any other wreaths or decorations in place. There will be several dumpsters placed throughout the cemetery to dispose of the wreaths. There are a limited number of dumpsters available—please pack the wreaths as tightly as possible in the dumpsters. We'd love if our volunteers could stay at least until 12:00 noon, to help with any extra wreath disposal needed at locations throughout the cemetery. Sign up here.
