On September 6, 2011, the California Supreme Court heard arguments on whether or not anti-gay forces have the right to defend Proposition 8 in court. This month, Peter Renn, Staff Attorney from Lambda Legal, the oldest and largest national legal organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, and transgender people and people in HIV, will speak about the recent hearing and other issues related to the Prop 8 challenges. Peter will also discuss Obama's new policies on immigration and their impact on the LGBT community and bi-national couples. Come learn about important new LGBT litigation as well as ask questions of someone as knowledgeable and experienced as Peter.
As always, we will hear exciting reports from the many events API Equality-LA engaged in this past month as well as the groundbreaking activities of our standing and ad hoc committees. We will also give an update on efforts around protecting the FAIR Education Act.
As we will be serving dinner, RSVP IS REQUIRED.
