Team Healthier Generation
Join Our Team for the ING NYC Marathon
Last year the Alliance ran the ING New York City Marathon with 4 first-time marathoners and raised more than $40,000. This year, we're doubling the size of Team Healthier Generation and striving to raise $75,000 to fight childhood obesity. Just like last year, our goal is to make a difference. We're raising awareness for our cause and taking action so our youth may have a healthier future.
Celebrity chef Richard Blais is returning as our team captain and is hoping to raise more and run faster. Join Team Healthier Generation and see how you can team up with Richard and run to fight childhood obesity. We'll help you get healthy and cross the finish line for a good cause. |

Global Youth Service Day
Mobilizing Millions of Youth Across the Nation
Joining more than 100 countries celebrating the three-day event, several of our Youth Advisory Board members planted community gardens, hosted youth forums, and held health fairs to raise awareness for childhood obesity. Citizens of Tucson, Arizona enjoyed cooking demos from local chefs and explored strategies for staying active with 11-year-old Haile Thomas who organized the city's Healthy Eating, Active Lifestyle Festival.

Obstacle courses, kite flying and rain barrel painting were the attractions at Youth Advisory Board member Madeline Cumbey's community event. Madeline got everyone involved to start a garden in the Park District. A couple shovels, three wheel barrels, and 140 seeds later and Madeline's community is now awaiting its harvest of healthy veggies. |
