Support the 15th Annual Heroes Run on Sunday

Runners, walkers, and volunteers may join in supporting the 15th Annual Cleveland Heroes Run on Sunday, September 18, starting at 8:30 a.m. The event begins and ends at St. Joseph Academy, 3470 Rocky River Drive.

Although online registration has ended, walk-up registration is available on race morning for a $30 entry fee. Choose between either a 5-mile race or a 2-mile race/walk through West Park. Participants set their own pace, and everyone is a winner just by paying tribute to our heroes! Of course, prizes will be presented to the the top three finishing male and female racers in a variety of age groups and categories.

Join all who come together to raise funds for the West Park Cleveland Police and Firefighters Memorial Fund. It was established in 2002 to create a lasting memorial to honor Police Officers and Firefighters who gave their lives in the line of duty while either serving the citizens of West Park or while living in the community.

Libraries Offer A Card for Every Kid

Across the county, libraries are celebrating National Library Sign-Up Month throughout September with "A Card for Every Kid" campaign. In an effort to get children to use the library, two perks are being offered:
  • Parents may obtain a new library card for each child by simply visiting the library and signing up.
  • Children who already have a card, but who also have fines, will have those fines forgiven when accompanied by a parent. (Fine forgiveness is a one-time benefit.)
Parents may help the local library system learn about kids and library cards by taking a survey, here. In thanks, the library will remove $5 off any fines a participating parent may have.
