Racquetball Canada Names National Teams
Winnipeg, September 27, 2017 - Racquetball Canada is pleased to announce its national teams for the 2017 / 2018 season.
Team selection is based on
results from two national team selection events and the Canadian Championships held in the previous season. Racquetball Canada names athletes to an elite team and a development team based on rankings from those events.
Most of the national elite team members are veteran athletes with a history of success at the national and international level. Several have been on the podium for Canada at various international events over the past few years.
"We have some new players who have worked hard in the past year and have made the national teams," said Geri Powell, Racquetball Canada's Administrator of High Performance and Sport Development. It's great to see new faces that will be vying for the chance to represent Canada in upcoming international events."

Racquetball Canada will also be nominating four athletes to the Sport Canada Athlete Assistance Program. All national team members are supported through Racquetball Canada's High Performance Program and the Canadian Sport Centre in their home province.
Throughout the season athletes will be competing for selection to teams that will be representing Canada at the Pan Am and World Championships. The next opportunity will be the National Team Selection Event being held in Vernon from November 24 to 26.
Racquetball Canada is the national sport governing body responsible for developing competitive national teams and overseeing developmental and high performance programs that grow the sport of racquetball in Canada.

Racquetball Canada désigne ses équipes nationales
Winnipeg, le 27 septembre 2017 - Racquetball Canada a le plaisir d'annoncer la composition de ses équipes nationales pour la saison 2017-2018.
La sélection de ces équipes est basée sur les résultats de deux épreuves de sélection de l'équipe nationale, ainsi que du Championnat canadien de la saison précédente.
Racquetball Canada nomme les athlètes au sein d'une équipe d'élite et d'une équipe de développement en fonction du classement de ces compétitions.
La plupart des membres de l'équipe nationale d'élite sont des athlètes chevronnés qui ont déjà obtenu d'excellents résultats sur les plans national et international. Plusieurs d'entre eux sont montés sur le podium pour le Canada à divers tournois internationaux au cours des dernières années.
«Plusieurs nouveaux venus ont travaillé d'arrache pied au cours de la dernière saison, si bien qu'ils se sont qualifiés au sein des équipes nationales» a analysé Geri Powell, administratrice de haute performance et du développement du sport de Racquetball Canada, qui poursuit : «C'est excellent de constater que de nouveaux visages vont avoir la chance de représenter le Canada aux prochaines compétitions internationales.»
