Foundation Needs

As you know we send gift cards out weekly to families in order to give assistance with groceries and gas. Next time you are at the local market - please pick up a $10 or $20 gift card and send to us.
Congrats to our Night of Superstars alumni from East Texas!
Elizabeth Armstrong was nominated for the Star Student of the Year at the TCASE (meeting for Special education directors,) and she has written and had accepted an article for the magazine NOAH (Nathional Organization for people with Albinism and Hyperpigmentation)
Elizabeth Armstrong and Erica Thomas will be going to camp in Austin at the school for the blind.
Krystalin Simoneaux was on A/B honor roll and received 4 awards!

Dear Ragan's HOPE family, I can't believe summer is here and our busy schedules have begun with all the activities we try to fit in during the summer months. I would like to ask that you continue to remember the families we are supporting and know that their summers look vastly different than most of yours - they are simply trying to get through a day at the hospital or a day with multiple doctor visits...or perhaps caring for their children at home with no help to complete the simple daily tasks that we take for granted. If you have a few hours in these summer months to give we would love to have you volunteer to meet the needs of these families, simply contact Stacy, our Director of Volunteers and she will work with the various leaders to see that you and your family are given an opportunity to serve that will fit into your schedule. I also want to remind everyone that we are starting our Back To School initiatives. In the cities where we have teams in place they will be collecting school supplies and backpacks to meet the needs of the families in their communities. Our Dallas - Ft. Worth teams will have an assembly day to not only fulfill the DFW needs but also our national families where we do not have a team in place. So families, know that if you are currently being supported by Ragan's HOPE - your children will receive a back pack with school supplies. More information will be sent to you over the next week. These next few months will also be busy with the planning of our next two Night of Superstars events. One in East Texas and the other in Dallas-Ft. Worth. Please be in prayer for these events as we continue to make all the necessary plans to create an evening for these superstars and their families. Please let Stacy know if you are available to Volunteer for the Christmas in July event on July 17th! We need people to help set up during the day of the 17th and will need a few people in the evening as well!
Houston and St. Louis:
Your area is e - x - p - a - n - d - i - n - g! We have partnered with additional hospitals as well as the social workers at the current partners are wanting to have the opportunity to increase the families that they send to us by a great deal and we need your help! We need your help in serving the families but also, in recruiting those in your circle! Please contact Stacy!

June 13 & 14, 2014 - Stacy Penland and Cindy Ruggieri attended the Texas Parent to Parent conference which educates Texas parents about how to deal with the unique issues and challenges they face on a daily basis in caring for their children.

| Partners Update | |
We are excited to welcome Nora's House and Shriners Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas, as well as Ronald McDonald House of Austin, TX. We have already begun to receive family referrals from Shriners Children's Hospital.
In addition, we are working on future partnerships with Ronald McDonald House of Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.
Members of Ragan's HOPE recently met with a team of Social Workers at Children's Medical Center Hospital of Dallas. We look forward to serving families with children in their facilities in the near future. We are also meeting with Sewell Dealerships in Dallas during the month of July and look forward to a successful partnership with them.
Last but not least, we are happy to announce that Ragan's HOPE Foundation is now listed with Great Nonprofits.org as a foundation nationally headquartered in Dallas and a resource for families and volunteers. Great Nonprofits rates foundations based on comments and reviews posted by those who volunteer or work closely with the organizations. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to post your own review!

| Recipe of the Month | |
These are sure to bring a smile to the families we support or to your family.
Skinny Chunky Monkey Cookies
3 ripe bananas (mashed)
2 cup of oats
� cup peanut butter
� cup cocoa
1/13 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix ingredients and let stand for 20 minutes. Drop by teaspoon full onto a cookie sheet and bake for 10 - 12 minutes at 350 degrees
