5-8th Grade Choir Sings Feb 11!
The K-4th grade choir will be singing at the 10:30am service on Sunday, Feb 11. We will meet in the sanctuary at 10:15 where we will warm up and line-up.  We will be singing at the beginning of the service. The kids will be dismissed right after we sing.   Please remember this is a required performance.  If you have a conflict, a parent must call Mrs. Wrolstad or the absence will not be excused and will affect your student's grade. If you have any questions, feel free to call Kristin Wrolstad at (920)248-6461.
Exciting News!
Sadly we had to start this school with Mr. Bava, our K4 teacher, on disability. However, we were extremely blessed to have Mrs. Goetzke back in our midst (after several years of retirement) to teach our little ones.

We praise God that Mr. Bava is now able to return to his job here in K4. Beginning next week, he and Mrs. Goetzke will overlap in the classroom. This allows time for Mrs. Goetzke to close out her program while Mr. Bava gets to know the children and their families.  We pray that this transition will be an easy one for our students as they move from one fabulous teacher to another.
We thank Mrs. Goetzke for her service here helping us to educate God’s little lambs at a difficult time. We wish her God’s greatest blessings on her future plans.
Please feel free to stop in during the week of the 5th to say good-bye to Mrs. Goetzke, talk with Mr. Bava and get to know him, or come and visit with Ms. Gromowski. We are all here to help!
To all who participated in the 16th Annual Bowling for the Band and Roof Fund! We had 86 bowlers make it a huge success! The amount raised from the event was $ 6620.81.   Praise to the Lord!
We want to thank our lane sponsors, who, with their support helps make the Band Program so excellent!
Thank you to all who donated items for the silent auction. Thank you to the band parents that helped to put this event together. Special thanks to: Cathy Oestreich, Rebecca Hartmann, Shannon Milbrath, Amy Gromowski, Tonia Kaddatz, Watertown Bowl 18, Phil Zastrow and Tim Behling for the kids’ 100 games.
A big thank you goes to the Kohl’s A-Team especially Shannon and Gail for their hard work and the Kohls $500 match.
Special Thanks to Miss Ashley Hathaway for all the time and fun and talent she spends with the students and for creating band as a exciting and enjoyable activity. We are very blessed to have a strong program, strong band instructor and strong support from the school and church. Praise be to God for all those that help to make our school the blessing that it is! We look forward to seeing you next year.
Box Top Competition
We are running a student Box Tops competition runs through Friday, February 16th . Students, please bring in all your collected Box Tops and keep cutting them out!
Exciting News for Next Year
As many of you have already noticed, we are growing in numbers in our student populations. What an incredible gift from God when so many Lutheran schools are experiencing exactly the opposite! Together with the Board of Day School Education, we have been monitoring our "growing pains" and making decisions for the 2018-2019 school year already. The first major decision coming out of these discussions is to hire another full time teacher for next year. We will be splitting our current 1st/2nd grade classroom and will be looking for a 2nd grade teacher. Please contact Amy Gromowski directly with any potential teacher candidates for this new position.
Classroom Alignments for 2018-2019
We don't have too many changes for next year other than our classroom split of 1st and 2nd grade. Please note that while this is the plan right now, it could be subject to change with some unforeseen circumstance. We'll keep you informed! See below for individual classrooms:
K3- Mrs. Michelle Keller
K4- Mr. Dominic Bava
( hopefully back from disability leave)
Kindergarten- Mrs. Karen Schempf
1st Grade- Mrs. Danielle Bely
2nd Grade- NEW TEACHER
3rd/4th grade- Mr. Lucas Gerlach
5th Grade- Mrs. Laura Baker
6th Grade- Miss Charlotte Groth
7th/8th Grade- Mr. Stephen Bernau

Attendance Matters!
No surprise that studies show higher achieving students have less absences on their school record. In an effort to encourage perfect attendance , the Milwaukee Bucks have developed a program to help students be more aware of their days in school. During the month of February EVERY student with perfect attendance for that month only will be awarded 1 free ticket to a Bucks game! Watch your child's backpack for more information and a special chart to track it on! Good luck students!
The first – eighth graders are participating in an AR National Challenge that begins on January 29 . March 9 is our cutoff date for the AR Challenge.
Last year we took second place overall. This year Ms. Gromowski challenges us to take FIRST place. We can do this, students. Get reading!
Good Shepherd PTL - Soup”er Bowl
Sunday, February 25th
(after 10:30 church service)
DO you love to cook or bake?   The PTL “Soup”er Bowl is in need of chefs and bakers to make soups, salads, breads and desserts.
What is the “Soup”er Bowl?   It’s a friendly competition among school families and members of the congregation to see who can make the best soup. You make the soup at home & bring it in a slow cooker to the fellowship hall on Sunday, February 25th before the end of late church service. Tables will be set up and you will be assigned a number. There will be outlets to plug in your slow cooker to keep your soup warm throughout the “Soup”er Bowl. We’ll supply the spoons and cups (with your assigned #) People vote on ballots for their favorite soup. It’s a fun family event filled with food and music played by the GSLS band.
If soup making isn’t your thing – you could make a salad, bread or dessert!  There is a sign-up poster in the fellowship hall if you’re interested in participating.
