Keeping Score on What's New at RSA
Dear Friends,

Welcome to the Hanukkah edition of the RSA Scorecard. We wish you and your families all a Happy Hanukkah.

Hanukkah is a celebration of the seemingly impossible: the mighty Assyrian-Greeks losing in battle to the much smaller Jewish armies led by the Maccabees; the oil lasting for eight days instead of one, a festival of light in the midst of the darkest days of the year. The Jewish tradition is calling out to us: that through determination and courage we can light even the darkest days, and that perhaps nothing is impossible,

Ometz  (courage) is one of the Jewish  middot ( values) we will be emphasizing this summer. To succeed in sports and in life we need to have courage to face the seemingly impossible and believe it can be done. We may not always be successful, but we will always be better for having tried. We will push ourselves to new heights by attempting something new this summer, by reaching a little higher and trying a little harder.

In further celebration of "miracles" born of determination, this month we recall great moments in sports that have come to be known as miracles. This is an inspiring list of college, professional, Olympic and even Israeli sports moments curated by our Associate Director Yoni Shear. Check out (and like) our RSA Facebook page to learn more and vote for your favorites.

Even though there is a chill in the air and the days are short, our thoughts here at RSA are of summer. Read on in this month's RSA Scorecard to meet our new Head Tennis Coach and to learn more about how to be a part of our inaugural summer at RSA.

Roster Update: Introducing our Head Tennis Coach
The Ramah Sports Academy is excited to announce that Marcy Cohen will be serving as our Head Tennis Coach for Kayitz (Summer) 2018!

Marcy has been a fixture in Connecticut tennis for more than 20 years as a professional tennis instructor and as a competitive player. She is active at the national level with the United States Tennis Association in promoting the instruction of young players – from pre-school to high school – and promoting the game of tennis.

In addition to founding her own tennis academy, highlights of Marcy’s tennis career include over a decade of coaching at the Yale Tennis Camp and competing in the 20th World Maccabiah Games on the Master’s Tennis Team in Tel Aviv, Israel in July of 2017. Marcy is certified with the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) as well as the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA), and is an active leader in the USPTA. Marcy was also honored by the Tennis Hall of Fame for her commitment to youth tennis.

On joining the RSA team, Marcy said: “I am so excited to be teaming up with the Ramah Sports Academy as the Head Tennis Professional this summer at Fairfield University. It is my vision that the tennis courts will be bustling with tennis players eager to have fun, learn and improve their tennis skills, manage their tournament play, and show great character on and off the tennis courts. Let’s have a ball!”
