I hope your 2018 is off to a wonderful start and your students are settled in at R-MC. In an effort to enhance communication to Randolph-Macon parents, the R-MC Parents Board has agreed to send out a semiannual newsletter (one per semester) to keep you informed about important events and topics happening on campus. Study Abroad

The Office of International Education encourages all students and their families to explore the wonderful opportunities R-MC students have to go abroad. Financial aid is available in many cases, and the personal, academic, and professional benefits are enormous.   •  April 19 – Registration for 2019 J-Term

  •  August 1 – Spring 2019 semester abroad applications due

  •   Wroxton College in Oxfordshire, England – students have an opportunity to spend four weeks (May 26 – June 23, 2018) at Wroxton College and earn 6 R-MC credits. Visit the Wroxton Travel Opportunity website for more information.
New Major

This past fall, R-MC faculty approved a new major in Criminology . The major will focus on understanding social structure and social processes in relation to crime, criminality, and punishment.
Starry Nights

The new Keeble Observatory on campus will be open for public viewing every Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (weather permitting). Visitors are advised to dress accordingly as the observatory is neither air-conditioned nor heated.

Housing Timeline for 2018-2019

  • Senior Apartments, Townhouses, Mary Branch Pocket, and Resident Assistant applications will be available for students on February 12th. Applications will be due on March 2nd through theBUZZ (the student portal).

  • Disability accommodation requests must be submitted to the Office of Disability Services by April 1st.

  • Students interested in living in their fraternity or sorority housing will need to make arrangements with their chapter president. Chapters must submit their housing rosters to the Director of Student Life by April 1st.

  • From time to time, "Projected Off Campus Waivers" are offered to returning students through a waitlist process when the College needs additional space in residence halls. The College does not anticipate the need for these waivers for the 2018-2019 academic year. The College will review the housing capacity needs in June 2018 and communicate with returning students then. All returning students should plan to live on campus for 2018-2019 academic year, unless students meet the requirements for "Traditional Off Campus Waivers" (which are due by April 1st). Any upperclassmen who are currently off campus are advised not to sign or extend any lease agreements.

  • Housing Lottery Numbers will be sent out via email in March 2018
  • Rising seniors report to their Housing Selection Night on April 24th at 5:00 p.m.
  • Rising juniors report to their Housing Selection Night on April 24th at 6:30 p.m.
  • Rising sophomores report to their Housing Selection Night on April 25th at 5:00 p.m.

  • This past fall, Women’s Volleyball won their 3rd consecutive Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament title (6th championship in program history).

  • Starting in Fall 2018, Men’s Volleyball will be added to R-MC’s athletic program as the 18th intercollegiate varsity sport. Their season will run from January to April and they will participate in the Continental Volleyball Conference. 

  • Head Women's Basketball Coach Carroll LaHaye won her 600th game in January 2018. Coach LaHaye is in her 36th season at R-MC and is the 59th coach in NCAA history to have won 600 games.

R-MC Connect: Refer A Yellow Jacket

Help expand the Yellow Jacket Hive by recruiting our next generation of students! Parents are invited to refer and recruit qualified students to enroll at Randolph-Macon. Accepted students recruited through the R-MC Connect Program will receive a $1,000 award per year (up to four years) in your name (immediate family members are not eligible).
