RANK THE SECURITIES IN YOUR PORTFOLIORank

You might be familiar with Chart Page indicators that evaluate data streams from all of the chart pages included in a single chart if you've looked at Example Charts 18 and 19 that are included with the Trader.  The trading rules use the Upper and Lower Rank indicators based on the Relative Strength Index indicator.

Here's another example that substitutes the Average Directional Index indicator.  The chart has been profitable out-of-sample since early 2015 even though none of the rules were optimized.

How Do Chart Page Rank Indicators Work?
The Upper and Lower Rank indicators calculate a measure of a time series relationship to the minimum and maximum value across all chart pages for a given date/time.

The closer upper rank is to 1, the closer the time series value is to the maximum. The closer upper rank is to N (the number of chart pages), the closer the time series value is to the minimum.   The lower rank indicator does the opposite.

Trading Rules
The Long conditions used the Lower Rank indicator.  We wanted to buy the stock with the lowest ADX value so we used the rule A < B(ChartPageLRank(ADX(High, Low, Close,10,5)),2)] which would buy a stock with a Lower Rank of 1, the lowest value.

The Long Exit occurred when the Lower Rank of ADX was greater than 3 which allowed the portfolio to hold several stocks at the same time.  (Look at the summary for 9/7/2016 below when the portfolio held long positions on two different stocks and short positions on another two stocks.)

The Short Entry used the Upper Rank indicator and only bought the stock with the top ADX value.  The Cover Short condition was Upper Rank > 3 to allow for several shorted stocks to be held in the portfolio.

You can adjust the threshold values in the rule to buy/sell different numbers of securities.

You can download a copy of the chart below from the Examples section of www.ward.net

SEND YOUR TRADING SIGNALS VIA TEXT MESSAGEText
We did some research and found out that you can send trading signals via text message in NeuroShell Trader.  You can just add the phone number as an Email address.  For  Verizon, it would look like  [email protected].  Other carriers have their own version.

To set up your text messages, find the program Order Emailer.exe in c:\NeuroShell Trader 6\Brokerage Servers directory.  Click on the file to display the following set-up screen.

You can add both text phone numbers and E-mail addresses in the Send E-mail box.

To send a text message via E-mail, you have to use the SMS to E-mail gateway for your carrier.  Some carrier examples are listed below.  Substitute your mobile number for the text "number".

Verizon:  [email protected]
Sprint:  [email protected]
T-Mobile:  [email protected]
Virgin Mobile: [email protected]

For more information on using the Order Emailer, read the help file named Order Emailer.chm in the C:\NeuroShell Trader 6\BrokerageServers directory.

Common Tech Support Issues

You can use the Turning Point Plot indicator to determine the neighborhood size when working with the Turning Point peak and valley probability indicators.  You can drag the Turning Point Plot indicator over the price data and see if it matches peaks and valleys in the data.

While you can't use the Plot indicator in trading strategies or predictions because the plot changes values as new data comes in, the probability versions do not change.  Therefore, the probability versions may be included in trading rules and predictions.
