Rapido News Volume 72 - ©2015 Rapido Trains Inc.

Dear Rapido Customer,

This newsletter is super short (no, really) and it's primarily to give you the heads up about two new product order deadlines.

Rapido FP9 Locomotive

HO Scale FP9A - VIA Rail Canada

HO Scale FP9A Order Deadline: September 30th

In Rapido News 70 I mentioned that we had retooled our Canadian Pacific FP9A as the old moulds were worn out. Well, the new moulds are all done, so it's time to get your orders in.

The order deadline for the HO scale FP9A Locomotive is:

September 30th 2015

(That's next Wednesday!)

Rapido CP Locomotive

HO Scale FP9A - Canadian Pacific (Block Lettering)

The available paint schemes are:
Note we will be beefing up the numbers on the cab sides of the Action Red units. They are a bit wimpy in the photos.

We are also selling the FP9A Power Chassis with sound and DCC. You can upgrade your existing models from other manufacturers.

Rapido CP Rail

HO Scale FP9A - CP Rail (8" Stripes)

The MSRP is still $225 (DC silent) and $325 (DCC/DC/Sound). These are the same prices as Rapido locomotives released two years ago. The sound models are actually cheaper than they were back in 2012 on our first run of FP9A locomotives (by a whole FIVE BUCKS!).

We don't normally make inventory, so you need to reserve your locomotives by next Wednesday to ensure you will get yours. Delivery is expected in January/February 2016.

Click here to visit the FP9A web page or to order direct. Click here to download a PDF order form to take to your hobby shop. Remember - order by Wednesday or you've missed your chance!

New Haven FL9

N Scale FL9 Order Deadline: October 15th

We had planned to make the N scale FL9 next year, after the Springfield Show in late January. But then the factory told us they have a free production slot next month, and we thought: "Wouldn't it be great to deliver the N scale FL9 before the Springfield Show?" So we took them up on it.

That means the order deadline for the N scale FL9 Locomotive has been moved UP to:

October 15th 2015

That is less than THREE WEEKS AWAY. If you've read or watched reviews of our HO scale FL9 locomotive (such as James Wright's YouTube review, available here) you'll know that it has been very highly regarded and they've been selling like hotcakes.

The N scale models will become equally scarce equally quickly, so it's highly recommended that you reserve yours before the deadline.

Conrail FL9

Pre-production samples shown.

The available N scale FL9 paint schemes are below. "EDER5" and "EDER5a" are New Haven railroad designations for the FL9s:

The MSRP is $169.95 (DC/DCC/Silent) and $279.95 (DC/DCC/Sound). Dealers may sell for less. Delivery is expected in January.

We will do our best to upload a YouTube video of the FL9 in action before the order deadline. Click here to subscribe to our YouTube channel so you won't miss it.

Rapido Sleeping Car

Playing with our new toy!

Rapido Sleeping Car News

As you can see in the photo above, I'm delighted to inform you that our Pullman-Standard sleeping car, Edmundston, has finally made it home to Canada! It's now in Orangeville, Ontario, where custom painter Bob Merriam has started doing the exterior body work. Click here or on the image below to watch the video of its arrival home and an interview with Bob about some of the challenges he faces in restoring this car.

We're looking for people to help us with the restoration. If you are handy with tools and you want to be involved in bringing Edmundston back to life we would love to hear from you. Obviously you need to be able to come to Orangeville (outside of Toronto) to help on the sleeping car, as we can't bring it to you! If you aren't in the area but you feel you can help in some other way, please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Canada 150 coin design

Wesley Klassen's design for Canada's 150th anniversary coin

Vote for the train!

Most of you live outside the Great White North and you probably don't know that 2017 marks Canada's 150th birthday. We're quite low key about stuff like this. While America was founded on the fields of battle, Canada was founded by a bunch of politicians standing around and thinking about maybe becoming a sort of separate country, a bit. That pretty much set the tone for the next 150 years. As Robin Williams once said, "Canada is like a loft apartment over a really great party. Like, keep it down, eh?"

The Royal Canadian Mint asked Canadians to submit their designs for a series of special anniversary coins, and now it's time to vote on them. Wesley Klassen's design, "Coast to Coast," prominently features a VIA FP9A. Please click here to take a couple of minutes and vote for Wesley's design, among some other greats. I particularly love "Fly Canada Fly" by six-year-old Adrian Chan.

Anyone can vote, and you can vote as often as you like. Please vote for the FP9A!

Well that has to be one of our shortest newsletters EVER. Our next newsletter will be sent on Monday 12 October from our big Rapido Product Launch Party. All are invited to attend this exciting event at Exporail in Montreal. Full details can be found here. Hopefully we'll see you there!

Best regards,

Jason
