Dear Raskob Community,
Hopefully you are able to get out and enjoy the sunny weather we've had the last few weeks. It's shaping up to be a busy Spring and I wanted to call out a few activities coming in the next couple of months.
First, Mr. D is launching a special and important initiative called the Kindness campaign. While the College world will be celebrating basketball during March Madness, we will be celebrating and using the month of March to launch our Kindness Campaign. The first "Tea with Mr. D" will be held on March 2nd at 8:30 am in the lobby. Mr. D will host an open forum on discussing kindness as well as exploring newer strategies on how home and school can work together intentionally as partners to help our students promote kindness despite what our country is settling for.
Next, I wanted to mention that we are starting to recruit RPA board members for next year. Key positions include President / Co-President, Fundraising, Communications, Treasurer, Family Resources and Support, Academic Life, and Secretary, among others. It has been a truly fun and rewarding experience being part of the RPA the last few years - getting to know the Raskob
administration on a different level and working with a phenomenal, dedicated group of parents. A few members are graduating out, a few of us are staying, but we will definitely find a place for you, if interested. Please reach out to Phil Wright, Mark Headley or any of our other current board members for information.
We have our next Penny Plays fundraising game coming up on February 26.
Lastly, the RPA Spring Social is coming up on Saturday, March 24th at the West Berkeley Fencing Club. We look forward to this every year - it's really a lot of fun being out with the Raskob c
ommunity in a social setting. It's a great way to get to know other families, teachers, and staff that you may not run into on a day-to-day basis.
Thank you.
Regards,
Phil

Tea with Mr. D.
Dear Raskob Families,
As I continue to watch and listen to how our country struggles with relating to one another and treating each other with respect and kindness, I am saddened for our innocent, young children. I am equally disappointed how the mistreatment of individuals have become normalized in our neighborhoods. Even though at Raskob, we have the most caring families, students, educators and supporters in the world, our kids are still exposed to music, technology, videos, sports, Hollywood, and other modalities that promote coldness and cruelty as the new normal.
Raskob r
ecognizes that you must teach the skill before holding our students accountable. Even though, the students have heard and know how to be kind from home and school, we would like to turn the heat of
Kindness
up this year. In fact, we are calling it the
Kindness Campaign.
While the College world will be celebrating basketball during March Madness, we will be celebrating and using the month of March to launch our Kindness Campaign.
To the end, I would like to invite you to my first "Tea with Mr. D" on March 2nd at 8:30 am (meet in the lobby). We will have an open forum on discussing
Kindness as well as exploring newer strategies on how home and school can work together intentionally as partners to help our students promote Kindness despite what our country is settling for.
Please join us to raise the bar on Kindness for many years to come.
