RICHMOND, Va., March 8, 2017-- The Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities Peninsula Chapter in association with the Daily Press presented President and Chief Executive Officer Ray Walsh the Humanitarian Award on Feb. 23.
The VCIC Humanitarian Awards honors outstanding individuals and organizations that foster and promote understanding, diversity and respect among people of different backgrounds.
The award was presented at the 49th annual Humanitarian Awards at the Newport News Marriott at City Center. The ceremony had more than 500 guests in attendance.
Walsh was one of five honorees to receive the prestigious award.
"If you don't include everybody you can't be successful," Walsh said. "When I became the President of Metro Communications in 2001, I wanted to do something that would benefit the public. I started looking for non-profit organizations that didn't have the money or resources to tell their story."
