"Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. (OPBSI) has partnered/co-sponsored with MADRE and Eat Cake NYC for the 2011 Ray of Hope Initiative which will be a Benefit Concert on Saturday, October 22, 2011. I will be the Mistress of Ceremonies for the concert. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for the reception at the Lovinger Theatre in the Bronx, New York.
The Ray of Hope Initiative is an annual event whose goals are to shed light on the issues of violence against women, celebrate the strength of victims and survivors globally, and continue to advocate for communities affected by such violence. This year's Benefit Concert will feature an array of musicians, artists, and other different types of performers. The purpose of the Benefit Concert is to raise both funds and public awareness to address the violence that affects more than 25 million American women.
MADRE, an International Women's Human Rights Organization, focuses on advancing women's human rights by meeting urgent needs in communities and building lasting solutions. They partner with community-based women's organizations worldwide to address issues of health and reproductive rights, economic development, education and other human rights.
Eat Cake NYC, is designed to acknowledge women all over the world on taking the lead, taking initiative and doing it all on their own terms. Through women empowerment, the goal is to encourage and motivate all women to strive towards the next level. As a result, Eat Cake's motto is "Much Success and Prosperity unto you."
The event will start at 6:00 PM with the cocktail reception and the Benefit Concert will start at 7:30 PM"
