Bears are many things to many people: a symbol of nature untamed, a worthy quarry for hunting, a pest that raids beehives and birdfeeders, to name a few. Our perceptions of this shy and elusive creature are more often based on stories and folklore rather than facts. Amy will present this program on our black bears in the state, and if possible, she will have a live bear with her.

Bill Russell has been giving mushroom programs, workshops, and hikes for over 35 years. Bill has published a book called Field Guide to the Wild Mushrooms of Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic, which is useful to the novices and experienced wild mushroom hunter. He is a longtime resident of State College, Pennsylvania.

2017 marks the commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of the Founding of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. The Huntingdon County Historical Society plans a gallery exhibit as part of the festivities. The exhibit will include fine art paintings, JC Blair Company artifacts, Native American artifacts, historical documents including early original tavern licenses from Huntingdon, railroad artifacts, old photos over the years, old maps, pottery, textiles, military artifacts and digital display lectures.
