Greetings!
We are ready for Mayfest of Huntingdon on April 27! This historic festival takes you back in time to remember many great periods in American history - Mayfest features 5 historic eras in 5 blocks of historic downtown Huntingdon. There are a lot of new features at Mayfest this year; like the Hoopla-gans (Fire/LED hula hoopers), the Queen of Mayfest doing a reverse fashion show, Shaggy Mountain Petting Zoo, Huntingdon Dance Academy performances and the Faerie Festival. I look forward to seeing all the costumes (attendees are invited to wear period clothing to join in the fun, if they choose), the bands, exhibits, food and how much fun everyone is having.
The spring flowering display is certainly spectacular this year! The redbud trees are just starting to pop and the cherries and dogwoods are really beautiful right now. I love the spring flowering trees here in Huntingdon County! There will be lots of redbud spots like this showing soon:
There are a lot of great events happening all the time in the Raystown Lake Region. Did you know that the Huntingdon County Visitors Bureau posts more than 1,200 events each year to Raystown.org/upcoming-events? Click there and check it out to see all the great things going on here.
Happy Springtime!

From the early 1900s to 1940s, an exotic blight attacked and killed over 4 billion American chestnut trees. American chestnut was the dominant tree species across the east and was considered more important than the oaks we have today. Growing over 100 feet tall and more than 4 feet wide, this majestic tree provided great forest and wildlife benefits while providing way of life for residents throughout the Appalachian Mountains. A fundraising social event, educational session with door prizes and auction will be held Saturday, May 4 at the beautiful C. Barton McCann School of Art in Petersburg, PA.
