Re-imagine W Colfax Celebration A Huge Success!

Movie Night at Sloans August 29th: Pee Wee's Big Adventure!  The event kicks off at 5pm with activities and games for children, a Pee Wee costume contest and dance off and live music. All beer proceeds will benefit Girls Incorporated of Metro Denver. This bicycle-themed event builds on Re-imagine West Colfax's focus on improving the bicycle, pedestrian and retail environment in and around West Colfax. Organized bike rides to the event are strongly encouraged!

A huge round of thanks to all who helped us to re-imagine W Colfax!  The design demonstration and event this past Sunday was a huge success with over 600 participants, and we couldn't have done it without outstanding business and community participation; our team of PlaceMatters, WalkDenver, Radian and Groundworks; dozens of volunteers-- from urban designers and engineers to community members to CU urban planning students--; Denver Public Works, CDOT and RTD; and financial and material donors (partial list shown on the banner below--plus Nava Real Estate)!  
 
We have attached some images that show all the fun on Sunday, and this great timelapse video of parklet construction.  We collected well over 200 surveys, the comments you can see on the chalkboard photo, many video interviews of participants, not to mention a number of enthusiastic post-event emails.  
  
We were also fortunate enough to have Denver Public Work Manager Jose Cornejo and Councilman Rafael Espinosa speak favorably about the design demonstration, and look forward to exploring how to make some version of them permanent.
 
We will keep you posted in the next weeks once we've had a chance to synthesize all this information and input, but our initial look makes clear that there is strong community and public support for the designs we demonstrated!
