Read-A-Thon Kick Off!!

The 5th Annual HPS Read-a-Thon Fundraiser is Underway

Why is this event so important to Hyde Park School? Well, it promotes the joy of reading and serves as the second largest fundraiser PTO hosts each school year. Your generous contributions to the Read-A-Thon go directly into funding a budget that supports students, teachers and the classrooms.

A school wide rally today will kick off this action packed, book fueled, month!! We hope you all looked through the Welcome Folders that were sent home and include your student's reading log. Encourage him/her to involve others in these reading goals by seeking sponsors. Grandparents, Aunts & Uncles, Neighbors, and Friends can support his/her reading, as well as donate requisite funds to the school.

Official Reading Period is October 6th-24th

Prizes are awarded for students’ participation!

Each homeroom will have a winner for most number of minutes read, and the homerooms on the winning team will get a pizza and ice cream party.
The top reader in each homeroom will receive a Blue Manatee gift card.
Homerooms that have 100% participation (classroom reading logs submitted, pledges are not required to win) will earn a pajama & extra free reading day in class.

Janet Tashjian, Best Selling Author will be coming to HPS!

Monday- October 16

3rd through 6th graders will get an inside look into an author’s mind as she discusses her process for writing her popular books My Life as a Ninja, My Life as a Stuntboy, My Life as a Book, etc.
Check out the flyer that came home in the Read-a-Thon welcome folder and please consider purchasing her newest novel, Sticker Girl. Janet Tashjian will sign your child’s copy!

Save the date! Wednesday October 18th and Thursday October 19th @ Bronte Bistro (Located inside Joseph Beth Book Store) will be our next HPS Restaurant Day/Night. Bronte Bistro will donate 20% of sales made (excluding alcohol) to the HPS PTO. A flyer will come home in the Tuesday Folder on October 17, present this flyer to the restaurant when you go.
A 20% off your purchase at Joseph Beth coupon was included in the Read-A-Thon folder. Bring it with you when you attend the restaurant night and make your day one of donating, saving, and reading!

How To Make A Pledge?

All pledges (Cash, Check made out to HPS PTO, or Online) should be turned in with your student's folder on October 25th and 26th.

Instructions for Online Donations- Please utilize our website www.HPSPTO.Com to place your online pledge. The red "Donate Now" button on the right hand side of our website will allow you to make a payment through PayPal.
