'What's in a Name' Survey Results
We asked for your opinions (Do you support or oppose the proposed new name for the region: The RGR Network of Transforming American Baptists?) over the past two months and you have supplied them. We were sensing that region churches were not yet at a place of agreement, and the survey results bear out that our assumptions were correct.

It would appear that we are not ready for this matter to come to a vote in September.  It is my hope that at the next Delegates' Meeting there will be a motion to create a special task force to consider a new name.

The survey did generate suggestions to consider.  Read more.

Church Story of the Month ChurchStory

The First Baptist Church in Ithaca is a community
centered in Christ, bound by grace, and called to model God's vision of inclusive love.   The First Baptist Church was founded in 1821 and moved to its present site adjoining DeWitt Park in downtown Ithaca in 1826.  The current structure was completed in 1890, and is designated an historic landmark.  In the 1970s the congregation voted to renovate the interior using an open, level, and inclusive model.

From its beginnings, First Baptist has been committed to social justice.  Read more.

From the BPFNA Summer Conference bpfna

by Doug Donley, Pastor UBCMN

Deidre Druk and I had the honor of attending the summer conference of the Baptist Peace Fellowship~Bautistas Por La Paz.  We joined 217 peacemakers from 11 countries in what many are calling a Kairos (critical; opportune) moment.

The conference was held entirely in Spanish (with great translations via headsets for those of us not conversant with the language). We sought to break down the barriers of class and culture and find ways to partner in the global work of peace.
