Here is the latest news from Calvary Community Church, 286 Ashmont Street in Dorchester.
Visit us on Sunday morning at 11AM or online at www.calvary-boston.org.
I take an unhealthy delight in typographical errors on notices and signs.  The dry cleaner on the corner offers a "pans hem" service for $8.  There was a Dunkin DonutsĀ© in Connecticut with a bathroom that was out of order, a handwritten note imploring patrons to "pleas bare with us".  ...   (Read More)
This Sunday at Calvary
If you are in the Ashmont neighborhood of Boston this Sunday, please consider yourself welcome to participate in the ministries of Calvary community church:
Before Worship...
Plan on participating in Christian education at 9:30am.  This year's CE theme is 'G.O.D. Squad: Who Are We?'.  The Bible contains as many as 100 names for believers (the body of Christ, for example). We will be exploring the names that the Bible gives believers at monthly gatherings, and all are welcome to our weekly age-specific classes:
Children:  Bible-in-Life class meets in the "Red Carpet Room" on the church's lower level.
Teens:   Encounter  lessons meet in the Conference Room.
Adults:   The Gospel Project for Adults meets in the Parlor.
At Worship...
All are encouraged to stay for the worship service  at 11am, when we will engage in prayer, praise and the proclamation of God's word.  This Sunday's message will be based on Romans 13:1-7 and is entitled, "Addressing Authority".  What doses submission to governing authorities entail?  What shall we do about inept or oppressive authorities?  We pray you will be able to attend.
After Worship...
All are welcome to remain after the service for our monthly coffee hour -- a time of fellowship and food, a time for conversation, coffee and cookies (and more).

Weekly Prayer Meeting and Bible Study
"Is anyone among you in trouble?  Let them pray.  Is anyone happy?  Let them sing songs of praise.  Is anyone among you sick?  Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.  And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.  If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.  Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.  The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. (James 5:13-16)"
All are welcome to join in bringing the needs of the church and the community before that Lord at the weekly prayer meeting.  This time of intercession is held on Wednesday nights from 7-7:45pm.  If you have a prayer need,  e-mail Pastor Mike or call the church offices.
After this time of prayer, on  Wednesday nights from 7:45-8:30pm, we take a "Second Look" at Sunday's text and discuss the implications and applications God's word has to our lives.

Make Plans For This Summer
Calvary will be conducting Vacation Bible School this year from July 24th through 28th.  We hope that you will tell the children (ages 4-12) in your life about this great time of Bible stories, games, crafts, songs and snacks.  If you have any questions or want to volunteer, call or e-mail the church offices.

TO KEEP IN YOUR PRAYERS:
  • Our continued positive impact among our neighbors;
  • God's wisdom in determining the next steps for our men's, women's and summer Bible studies;
  • The folks of the week: Karen Pulido and Kathy & Evalysse Rivera;
  • Calvary's summer plans and sufficient resources to fulfill them.
