JAMPRO encourages services export with 'Services Go Global' programme
Are you ready to export your services and skills to international markets? JAMPRO has launched its services export strategy through Services Go Global, an export readiness training programme for persons currently exporting their services and others who want to be prepared to market their skills internationally.

The course will assist Jamaican entrepreneurs by supporting the creation of an export plan, increasing international competitiveness and developing a marketing and business strategy to enter international markets to ensure success.

The four-stage programme promises to be a boost for Jamaica's entrepreneurs and consultants.

Jamaica maintains competitiveness rankings, but Minister cites areas for improvement

Jamaica has maintained it's 86th position on the World Economic Forum's Global Competitiveness Report for 2015. The country ranked highly in several indices, including procedures to starting a business, where the country ranked third globally and 8th in the legal rights index.

In response to the report, Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce and Chairman for the National Competitiveness Council (NCC), Honourable Anthony Hylton, emphasized the importance of a more enabling business environment in Jamaica, stating that 'reforming the environment is priority for the Ministry and its agencies.'

Minister Hylton said, " Perhaps, an important lesson to take away from this report is that Jamaica cannot relax its efforts to build a stronger more enabling business environment, the country still has a lot of work to do to improve its resilience to external factors, however, there is demonstrable evidence that work has started in this regard."

Investment Minister explores opportunities for reinvestment and logistics

The Honourable Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, G. Anthony Hylton and representatives from the nation's investment promotion Agency, JAMPRO, recently targeted top European companies and business networks on a mission that was a part of the Agency's strategy to increase foreign direct investments (FDI) in Jamaica.

The mission was a key step in increasing international investment in the build out of a logistics-centred economy. The delegation met with executives of global companies at the headquarters of some of Jamaica's largest multi-national investors and hosted a business-networking seminar at the Jamaican High Commission in London.
