I want to take a second and introduce myself. My name is Andy Sinclair, I am the the Spokesperson and Chair of the REALM board for 2017 & 2018. To date we have built a powerful brand and community. It is my be belief by working together we can grow and strengthen our group. I look forward to being your guide for REALM and the Marquette Real Estate Alumni network.

Many are a part of this great organization, but, not everyone knows what we are and what we do. For those of you who aren't familiar with what REALM is or what it does, it's okay, you aren't alone.
REALM is the Marquette Real Estate Alumni Organization. We represent the over 300 graduates from the Marquette Real Estate program and the alumni that came prior to the program's founding. We also represent the alumni that are "adopted" who graduated in another field but found their way into real estate industry. We have many stakeholders in our organization. No matter how you got here it is you that we represent!
Our goal as your organization is simple - provide value to our alumni members that is consistent with a world-class organization and university. This value is represented in our three key pillars: Networking, Philanthropy, and Education.
Here are few of our current offerings that we provide to connect you the alumni with the Marquette Real Estate program:
- Networking:
- Cubs vs. Brewers game @ Wrigley Field
- The National Marquette Day Social
- Post-Strategies Conference Networking Event (formerly known as the REALM boat cruise)
- Philanthropy:
- Annual Indiegogo Fundraising Campaign to send students to key national conferences (more on that later)
- Education:
- Co-sponsoring industry & university events
Where is REALM going and what can we do better? Subsequent to this newsletter we will propose a more formal REALM Board structure to provide alumni a more effective experience.
Our hope is that we will make strides to improve the following:
- Communication - Improving how you hear from us and with consistent frequency
- Networking - Making connections for our alumni and better providing occasions for networking
- Philanthropy - Continuing our philanthropic initiatives and engaging our alumni members to be part of it
- Education - Offering more lifelong educational opportunities

Helping our Students - Philanthropy in Action

REALM's annual fundraising campaign
to send students to key national conferences (ULI, ICSC, NAIOP) had a record number of donors at 100! We also donated a record amount at
$20,825.
This represents a 50% increase over last years total of $13,500.
Contributions from donors help the Center for Real Estate take up to 25 students to these professional conferences. Marquette University is one of the only schools to take undergraduates to these conferences!
In addition to the total contributions, each graduating class holds a "competition" to see who can have the largest percentage of donations. The winner for this year is the
Class of 2013 with 58.3% participation followed closely by the our most recent graduates from the
Class of 2016 with 44%. Special shout out to
Max Schultz (BUAD '13) and
Nicole Patel (BUAD '16) for championing the effort to reach out to their respective classes!
