Winter 2018
From the Director
Dear Resident,

Winter program catalog production begins in the fall when the vibrant colors on the trees all around Thornton are illuminated by the remarkably present autumn sun. I savor those days knowing that winter is close behind. Once it settles in, if we don’t pay attention, cabin fever can start to creep in. Joining the activities at Thornton Park is a great way to avoid cabin fever this winter. When the weather doesn't cooperate for sledding, the ice rink offers many different opportunities for indoor ice skating. From Learn-to-Skate to Friday Night Skate and public skating sessions, the rink is always busy. Of course if a fresh snowfall occurs, the sleds come out and the sledding hill fills up, even when very little snow sticks to the ground! No matter the weather, or the amount of snow on the ground, Thornton Park is the place to be for winter fun.

But wait! Thornton is also the place to be in the summer and it's never too early to think about the pool. As you review the winter program catalog, you will notice pool passes go on sale Wednesday, January 3. Remember, you can save money by purchasing pool passes early.

We hope you will take the time to review this program catalog and register yourself or someone in your family for a program. If you don’t see anything you like, please reach out to us. We have a variety of different programs led by Shaker residents and would be happy to consider new program ideas.

Thank you for your continued support for City programs and services.

Be active. Stay healthy. Have fun!
