Roses and Redwood from the series Nurturing Time, Life in a Backyard Garden 2009/2012 David Wolf

It's been quite a month for gallery artist David Wolf and his series, Nurturing Time, Life in a Backyard Garden. He was awarded a first place by the International Photography Awards (IPA) and a third place in the Grand Prix de la Dcouverte's International Fine Art Competition. Both competitions singled out his image Roses and Redwood for recognition. (See above.)

And, as if that's not enough, he has work included in the Oceanside (CA) Museum of Art's exhibit Contemporary Landscape Photography: An International Perspective, which was curated by Steven Churchill. The exhibition, which runs through February 9, offers museum visitors a global/international perspective on the landscape. It features 44 images that highlight our integral connection to our surrounding environment and the changing aspects of our landscape. With images ranging from urban settings to idyllic naturescapes, this exhibit presents a diverse selection of engaging scenes from around the world.

By the way, if all this makes you curious about David's wonderful project, you can see Roses and Redwood and several other images from Nurturing Time on exhibit in our current show, Portfolio: Gallery Artists, which will be on view until January 11.

In addition to our full-scale exhibit of Nurturing Time, Life in a Backyard Garden earlier this year, David's work has been exhibited throughout the United States at such venues as the Griffin Museum of Photography, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, and the Photographic Resource Center. As an invited guest artist at the Lishui International Photography Festival in Lishui, China, he exhibited a selection from Nurturing Time, Life in a Backyard Garden. An image from this series is also included in Intimate Landscape, the recent second volume published by Open to Interpretation.

Last year David was chosen to be an artist-in-residence at the RayKo Photo Center in San Francisco. His work has been acquired by a variety of museum, corporate and private collections, including The Prentice and Paul Sack Photographic Trust of the Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco.

We hope you'll join us in congratulating David and that you'll find time during the busy holiday season to stop in the gallery to see some of his work on exhibit.

And, we can't end this message without wishing you a very happy Thanksgiving.
