Help us protect our environment by delivering your household hazardous waste (HHW) to our facility on Harrisburg Pike in Lancaster. The service is free to Lancaster County residents. We accept paint, cleaners, automotive fluids, cooking oils, pesticides, herbicides, computers, TV's, tablets, cell phones, fluorescent light bulbs, batteries, and more.

Save Recycling. Recycle Right!

The U.S. is the largest exporter of recycled commodities. And for the last several decades, China was the largest importer of those materials. However, the Chinese government recently introduced a "National Sword" policy that set extremely stringent parameters on the quality of recyclable materials imported into their country. Their focus is to reduce contamination of those recyclable materials; which is when people place trash into the recycle bin, often thinking it will be recycled. This policy is significantly impacting the global recycling industry, including the Susquehanna Valley. Material Recovery Facilities that process single-stream materials cannot meet China's quality standards, so they are forced to sell commodities into alternative markets at much lower prices.The result is a challenging financial situation for the recycling industry.

Industry Professionals Visit Lancaster for Annual NAWTEC Conference

Earlier this month, more than 200 industry professionals from around the country visited Lancaster County for the 26th Annual
North American Waste-to-Energy Conference (NAWTEC).
LCSWMA was proud to host participants at the Lancaster Marriott for the three-day conference, where they learned about industry trends and networked with peers. We were honored to have Lancaster City Mayor, Danene Sorace, give the opening address.
Members of our Executive Team, including Jim Warner (CEO), Tom Adams (Chief Business Development Officer) and Michelle Marsh (Chief Business Solutions Officer), presented on various topics impacting the waste-to-energy industry.
About half of the attendees also joined us for tours of the Lancaster Waste-to-Energy Facility. We were proud to share the innovative ways we make waste a resource for our community.

Join LCSWMA and other conservation-minded organizations during
Lancaster Water Week

June 1-9. During this week-long celebration of clean water, hosted by the Lancaster Conservancy, learn how Lancaster County's 1,500 miles of streams drive economic opportunity, and how protecting these waters benefits us all.
Several special events are planned for Water Week, including three with LCSWMA, where we will share the importance of proper waste disposal to prevent water pollution.
