Dear Small Business Owner/Operator,

As Executive Director of the Small Business Branch of the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Skillls Training, it is my pleasure to invite you to attend a focus group session about the new printed paper and packaging (PPP) category in the BC Recycling Regulation.  The purpose of the focus group is to meet with small business owners and operators to discuss small business concerns about the Multi Materials BC (MMBC) Stewardship Plan and the PPP category in the amended BC Recycling Regulation as it pertains to small business.  As part of these discussion, we'd like to get your input on how MMBC's Stewardship Plan for PPP producers can best meet the needs of small business and to provide you with important information and clarify other information that you might have already received.

As you may be aware, in response to concerns raised by the small business community, MMBC has committed to developing a Small Business Policy aimed at reducing the administrative burden on smaller-scale producers of PPP.  Their intent is to establish a policy for implementation in January 2014 and to ensure that it is effectively communicated and provides the information and resources that small businesses needs.  These focus groups will ensure that you have a voice in that process.

Following the focus groups we will be generating some practical recommendations for MMBC and government.

The Kelowna Focus Group will be held from 11:30 - 1:30  on Friday, November 29th, at:

Delta Grand Okanagan Resort and Conference Centre

Cascade-Cassiar Room (located in Conference Centre)

1310 Water Street

Kelowna, BC

We ask that you confirm your participation by Friday, November 15, 2013

Please RSVP to [email protected].

I look forward to seeing you at the focus group meeting on November 29, 2013.

Thank your customer, tell them how valuable they are to you, but don't go overboard. Insincerity is easy to spot.

Sincerely,

TRISH STERLOFF | Executive Director
