Do you ever just stop and think to yourself, “Dang. Jazz enters the lives of millions of benighted souls only in elevators and on galling telephone hold music?” And then do you ever stop and think, “Dang. When was the last time I thanked a NOLA musician for saving me claustrophobic elevator smothering by soft jazz?” NOLA wouldn’t be NOLA without jazz, but too often we forget to thank those who sweat and strum to keep traditions alive. Which is why we’re tickled pink about Ladies in Red, a gala honoring contributors to jazz.
Sip free premium liquor cocktails and nosh on Dooky Chase, Lil Dizzy's, and Palace Cafe's best as you swing your way into a night filled with luminaries of NOLA music and culture. Organized by Preservation Resource Center, Ladies In Red raises funds for African American Heritage Preservation and Heritage Education programs that preserve the historic architecture and neighborhoods where tradition bearers live and work.
Special Junior Gala tickets (ages 21-35) run $50, as compared to $75. Still sound expensive? Consider this. Like many events, you’ll sizzle, sway, and sweat as you dance the night away to The George French Band and Robin Barnes & the Soul Heirs. Unlike many events, you’ll directly support and thank living legends and leaders that have made New Orleans the place you want to call home. Now that’s a priceless offer we can’t refuse.

Although the event is called “Ladies In Red,” the gala also welcomes men - even jazzy cocktail attire in shades other than red (although most people choose to ignore ‘em. Just sayin’.)
In addition to a special Junior Gala ticket, you can also choose a special Junior Patron ticket, which gets you discounted entrance to the special patron party.
This year’s gala specifically will honor a number of jazz legends at 8:30, including Allen Toussaint, Tom Sancton, Sweet Lorraine’s Jazz Club, and more!
