Conversation and Transformation
The scripture story for this Sunday, about Philip and an Ethiopian man, describes their surprising encounter. It's surprising because they were not people who seemed likely to end up in conversation together-far less in a life-changing conversation that ended with the sacrament of baptism.
It's amazing what can happen when we stop to listen and to talk to one another, about things that really matter.
It's easier to keep the topics light. But now and then, at least, amazing things can happen when we dare to wade into the difficult waters of real conversation. Real conversation starts with listening, and makes space for questions. Real conversation always remembers the value of the people involved, and makes room for everyone to be changed by the encounter.
I hope you will take the time and energy for some real conversation this week; God can do amazing things when we dare to listen, to follow and to speak
Grace and peace,
Pastor Molly

Sermon Series: A Place to Call Home
In Resurrection,
Jesus makes a home for us that's something new, wild and different. I
t's home where we're loved unconditionally, where we become family with unlikely people, and a "home" that isn't restricted to any one place.
Pastor Molly began a new sermon series on April 19, exploring what it means to find a home in God. |
Parking Reminder: If you are able, we encourage you to park at the Wells Fargo bank on Sunday mornings, and walk across the street, reserving the parking lot for those with mobility challenges or for new visitors. We also have a bike rack on the patio, for those who choose to bike to church! Thanks for your consideration.

New Earth Day Banners
Made by our children
At our Sunday morning Earth Day workshop, some of our children helped Pastor Molly make a new set of worship banners, especially for Earth Day. The cross designs are made from recycled magazines. Read more about the project on our

A New Way to Connect with your Church Family!
Our church is now using an online, cloud-based system for keeping our records. As a part of this system, members and regular attenders of the church can be invited to log on, where you can find an always-updated church directory, access to information about church groups and committees, and easy options for electronic giving. It's accessible from smart phones, tablets or computers.
Our children and youth departments are switching to this system for keeping all of our registration info--including emergency contact info and health information that we need for events and trips.
Many of you have already received an invitation to create a login for this system, which is called Realm. In coming weeks, we will be sending invitations to more of you. In the meantime, if you would like access, please let us know. On
Sunday, May 3, Pastor Molly will host a
brief walk-through of the site after each of our worship services, for those who would like to know more about how to use this convenient system!

The Lay Looker, Bob Peterson
a view from the pew from a longtime member of our church
Our church young people are learning sales skills. Perhaps skills are not the proper name as it seems they just are waiting for buyers....of any age. They are trying to raise a bit more funding for their coming trip to Baja California, Mexico and selling T-shirts, sweat shirts and even hoodies is what we saw them doing last Sunday. I browsed a bit and of course, you may know that I'm a bit too... Read Bob's recent Lay Looker columns on our website by clicking here. |

2015 Lenten Series and Study:
A Story to Tell
Our Lenten small groups may have ended, but the work of story-telling is just begun, as we spread the good news of God's work in our lives.
Our youth group asked several people in the church to tell us their stories. You can see more of how God has worked in some of the lives of our congregation--we've shared pieces from these videos in worship. Watch more of them here.
