Time for Simple, Good Things

My family and I spent a part of my recent vacation on the Big Island of Hawaii, staying with a friend who is a pastor there. As has been the case when I've visited her before, we had a few simple rules for each day: it should include a nap, and it should include ice cream (or another suitable frozen treat).

It's a privilege to have days like that--with time to savor the simple and good things, with loved ones.

I know that life isn't always as sweet or easy, though I do hope that I might always treasure and remember those beautiful moments as grace-filled gifts. Maybe especially in the midst of grief and challenge, their value becomes even clearer. Even on vacation, I couldn't miss the presence of pain and violence in our world: in a plane crash, in violence in Egypt, in the grief of our own church families.

So I celebrate sweetness found in a world with too much bitterness. And I pray that you, too may find moments of grace tucked into our world.

with gratitude,

Pastor Molly

Take Time to Smell the Roses
Our 15-month church gardening project is complete! The landscaping and irrigation plan approved by our Church Council and accomplished through the willing hands and generous donations of our church people is a done deal!

Thanks to all who have been part of this mission to beautify God's gardens that surround and enhance our church campus.
However, our work goes on: now our task is to keep it
beautiful. You can help by volunteering to weed, and by picking up trash when you see it

Parking Lot Fence
Our Trustees added another feature to our newly-redone parking lot: a fence to make sure those getting out of the upper handicapped stalls are safe.

Come check it out the next time you're on campus!

"Our church has placed a couple of great looking new signs near our parking lot entrance to the patio. They announce the 8:30 AM service in the Epworth Lounge and welcome all of us, visitors and members, to our campus. They are attractive and informative. Thank you to whoever ordered and paid for them..."

Youth Summer Service Trips
Please hold our youth in your prayers as they prepare for their annual summer mission trips.
Our middle schoolers will be heading to Coarsegold, CA, July 21 - 26, working with the local Chukchansi Tribe.  Our Senior High Youth will be working a little closer to home in South Los Angeles, July 28 - August 3.  They will focus on projects for local homeowners and recreation centers. FUMCRB has a wonderful tradition of supporting our youth and it is because of that support that we can continue to serve the needs of our local community and beyond.
