A little bit of the dharma...

reflections from John

It's not just the rain that is wet, it is also my appetite for more philosophy, psychology, mindfulness, and yoga. I am learning that every day, beneath the continuous flow of seemingly ordinary moments, is a fun and enlivening dance of spirit. I am finding that this great spirit has talent at masquerading as people, situations, struggles, laughs, and sometimes even those salty, salty, tears.

It is becoming more and more the focus of my practice and teaching to lift the veils masking this great spirit. As I call out to spirit, I feel spirit calling to me to not only truly love myself as I am, but to also be encouraged to live my life with a bit more humor, tenacity, courage and of course- love.

I feel so blessed that my ancestors and teachers over the thousands of years before me have laid out these sacred practices of meditation and yoga. I can only imagine the joy and challenge they experienced along this path of discovery. I bow in gratitude for their guidance and illumination of this path and allowing me to continue this journey home to my heart. As I look around me and perceive both joy and challenge, it is my natural response to turn not only inward, but to also turn toward the ancient teachings, contemporary psychology and spirituality, and the great poetry of the mystics to inhabit my challenging moments with a bit more compassion and grace.

I would like to invite you to come explore some of what I have been learning and practicing in an upcoming class.

May the stars carry your sadness away,
May the flowers fill your heart with beauty,
May hope forever wipe away your tears,
And, above all, may silence make you strong.

May those moments of silence we take together in meditation make us all strong! May our strength serve to awaken all beings and let all of our hearts shine like the most golden and brightest stars.

I am so grateful to have met you along this path.

Namaste,
John
