This individual will head-up the Regional Conference in Orlando, Florida in 2019, among other things. Voting by electronic ballot is open to current NAFSA members

. The results will be published shortly before the conference with the incoming chair-elect-elect being introduced at the Business Meeting.
Region VII Treasurer Position Open
Good with numbers, bank accounts, receipts and a checkbook? No accounting degree needed, but financial accountability is a must. This position will take effect in November 2017 and nominations are open. More details and the application are available at the Get Involved page of the Region VII Website. Region VII is pleased to offer 5 workshops plus a Historically Black Colleges and Universities Forum this year! All workshops (except those noted otherwise) will begin at 1:00 pm Sunday, October 22.
Pre-registration is required / no onsite workshop registration. Please note that if sufficient enrollment is not achieved by September 29, 2017, Region VII reserves the right to cancel a workshop.

Do you have a burning question for SEVP Field Reps, USCIS, or the Department of State that you would like answered at the conference in Spartanburg?

Conference Book Club
An anthology of short stories by 20 Spartanburg writers, it was edited by C. Michael Curtis, a distinguished chair at Wofford College. The book was runner-up in the Independent Publisher IPPY Awards for the top collection of short stories in N. America. More about the book and ordering information are at the link above.
Time and location for the conference book club discussion are TBA. This would make great summer reading and goes well with vacation!

This conference couldn't happen without all the amazing volunteers. Volunteering is open to all conference attendees, and is a great opportunity to network, share best practices, help others, and learn a lot.

Volunteers should report to the Volunteer Table 15 minutes prior to the session start time. Volunteer slots are typically 1.5 - 2 hours. Prior experience or knowledge is not required to sign up as a volunteer. All necessary information will be provided when you report to the Volunteer Table. Please feel free to sign up for more than one time slot and day.

An experienced NAFSA member will provide feedback on your resume, guidance and encouragement in your job hunt. by Charlotte West. It features insights and advice from one of Region VII's own SIO's- Penelope Pynes from UNC-Greensboro.
The 2017 Symposium on Leadership: Internationalization and Diversity & Inclusion, examined the politics of identity, how the way we define ourselves affects every aspect of our lives, and the implications for higher education leaders. Symposium panelists shared their experiences and looked at innovative and effective ways to consider diversity and internationalization on campus.
Go Overseas Scholarship Opportunity
Go Overseas is proud to announce that we have again partnered with Education New Zealand to offer our 4th annual scholarship to study abroad in New Zealand. This year, we're offering five scholarships each worth up to $15,000. Both graduate and undergraduate students are welcome to apply.

Our marketing and registration materials are ready for distribution, and we need your help to spread the word to your students! Lessons From Abroad Georgia will take place:

This year's theme

The conference will take place at Saint Augustine's University in Raleigh from November 10-11, 2017.
The NCAIE Student Global Leadership Conference brings together undergraduate and graduate students from colleges and universities across the state of North Carolina for a weekend of networking, team building, and informative sessions on a wide array of topics related to international initiatives, global education, cultural diversity, and student leadership.

Register for the SC Lessons From Abroad Returnee Conference!
SCAIE invites you and your students to attend and/or exhibit at the Lessons From Abroad Returnee Conference: South Carolina hosted at University of South Carolina, Columbia on October 1st, 2017 from 10 am to 4 pm.
The conference is a collaboration among regional study abroad offices and program providers, with the goal of addressing the professional and academic needs of recently returned study abroad alumni. Lessons From Abroad has been hosting returnee conferences since 2008 across the US and has assisted more than 1,500 students in their adjustment to life stateside.
The objectives of the conference are to offer study abroad returnees the opportunity to
- reflect on their recent international experiences
- connect with other study abroad alumni
- network with professionals from international organizations
- gain important skills for continual learning and application in their future career and academic paths
