 CHAMBER MEMBER NEWS
Spotlight on Lois Blevins and the National Center for Citizen Safety

All this month, we've been shining the spotlight on members in honor of Women's History Month. This week, we're talking about Lois Blevins, founder and President of the National Center for Citizen Safety (NCCSAFE)

Blevins has over 30 years of federal law enforcement experience in both intelligence and training, including designing curriculum for federal infrastructure security, protection and investigations and reviewing curricula for the U.S. State Department. Through her years of working in law enforcement, Blevins was also involved in the non-profit organization, Concerns of Police Survivors as a volunteer, and serving on the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Surge Capacity Force which responded in the aftermath of both Hurricane Sandy and Hurricane Harvey/Irma. Blevins saw firsthand how the nation was being impacted by severe acts of nature as well as active assailants. In 2014, Blevins started the non-profit National Center for Citizen Safety with the mission of teaching citizens how to lock down, shelter-in-place and respond to acts of domestic terrorism. NCCSAFE also offers online citizen response education, resources for survivors and a toll-free telephone number and cyber tip line.

This August, Blevins and NCCSAFE will host their 4th Survivor Strong 5k, a race at which survivors including Ericka Brannock (Boston Marathon Bombing Survivor), Michele Gay (mother of Josephine Gay, killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting), and many others have spoken in the past. You can read much more about Lois Blevins and NCCSAFE, as well as the 4th Survivor Strong 5k here.
