2018 USA Summer Games
 Special Olympics NY is currently looking for motivated, enthusiastic certified coaches and a nurse to join Team NY for the 2018 USA Games.  Hosted in Seattle, Washington, the 2018 USA Games will be held on July 1-6, 2018. 
 
BEFORE you fill out the application please be sure to read and agree to the Code of Conduct and Eligibility Requirements.  You MUST agree to the conditions in order to be considered.
 
Simply fill out the coach application or nurse application either online or via download on this web site to be considered.  If you are applying via paper copy please send your applications to Stacy Eder: By e-mail:  seder@nyso.org
 
Applications must be received by online submission, or email by August 30th at 3PM.  Notifications for coaches selected for the 2018 USA Games will be sent out at on September 1st.   Those selected will be notified through Regional Program staff, Area Coordinators and by a congratulatory letter.

2 019 World Games
The 2019 World Summer Games will be held in Abu Dubai, UAE!  Special Olympics USA is looking for Director Positions (3) on the Management Team for World Games.  Volunteers with at least 5 years of experience with Special Olympics, have been a member of a previous SO USA delegation for a World Games, and have strong leadership skills are encouraged to apply!  The deadline for the submission of applications is Friday, September 1st, 2017. Job Description & Application
 
Coaching roles at the 2019 World Games are also available to apply for.
The deadline for submission is Wednesday, September 20, 2017.

New York State Fair Parade
Special Olympics New York and our athletes have once again been invited to walk in the New York State Fair Parade on -Friday, August 25, 2017 at 6:00PM.  There have been many changes to the New York State Fair and everyone is encouraged to be prepared for parking to take longer than usual. 
 
Who:     Special Olympics athletes, coaches and chaperones
What:    New York State Fair Parade
When:   Friday, August 25th at 5:30PM, parade begins at 6:00PM
Where: Parade meeting location is the back corner of the Center of Progress Building
 
Please take a moment to review instructions and New York State Fair General Rule and Regulations, Parking Map (we are designated BROWN and ORANGE PARKING), All trams are FREE of charge this year.  Everyone walking in the parade is asked to display their Special Olympics pride by wearing Special Olympics apparel.  Special Olympics NY athletes are encouraged to wear one medal.
 

 
Applebee's LAW & ORDERS 
LAW ENFORCMENT & ATHLETE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
 
What: An annual fundraising event organized by The Law Enforcement Torch RunĀ® for Special Olympics New York and Applebee's  in which law enforcement officers volunteer their time as "celebrity waiters" at the local Applebee's restaurants and receive "tips" to raise funds for Special Olympics. 
                             
Officers will be there to help greet customers and explain why they are there.  They will help the wait staff bus tables, get drinks, etc.  On each table will be an envelope where the customer may choose to leave a donation "tip" for Special Olympics in addition to their server's normal tip. 
 
When: Thursday, September 14, 2017
5:00pm-8:00pm (arrive at 4:45pm)
Beverages and appetizers will be served to volunteers at 8:00pm

Dress Code: Members of law enforcement are encouraged to wear their uniform if permitted.  We will provide a Law & Orders t-shirt for both law enforcement and athletes participating, VOLUNTEER FORM REQUIRED.  Please wear chinos (athletes any wear athletic wear and one medal) and comfortable shoes.  No denim please.

Cops on Top at DUNKIN' DONUTS raises over $69,000
THANK YOU!!! 
Thank you to all who supported the 6th Annual Cops on Top at DUNKIN' DONUTS.  With the help of DUNKIN' DONUTS, local law enforcement volunteers, Special Olympics athletes  and the generosity of our community, $69,000 was raised in just 5-hours on Friday, August 4th at 36-DUNKIN' DONUTS locations.
