Consortium celebrates 20 years

June marks the 20th year for the Regional Water Providers Consortium. At our June board meeting we celebrated with some of our founding and current members, ate cake, and debuted a 20th Anniversary video highlighting our successes over the years.

The Consortium is committed to continuing its work in water conservation, emergency preparedness and other regional coordination efforts, and will kick off the next era by updating its strategic plan in the coming year.

Welcome to our new staff member Katy Asher

Katy Asher joined the Consortium staff as a Program Specialist in mid-May. She most recently worked with SE Uplift in Portland and brings experience in developing and writing publications, community collaboration, event planning, and managing online content.

Katy  will provide support to the Consortium's conservation and emergency preparedness programs, and will have a key role in managing the Consortium's websites (www.regionalh2o.org and www.conserveh2o.org) and social media channels (Facebook and Twitter). Welcome Katy!

Anyone can have a blue thumb: 5 waterwise tips

Summer is finally in full swing, and so is the summer watering season. Water use significantly increases during the summer, in large part due to watering lawns and landscapes. The good news is that you don't need to be a garden guru or have a green thumb to use water efficiently in your landscape - a nyone can have a blue thumb by following these 5 simple waterwise tips

The Consortium is also giving away free watering gauge kits (one per household while supplies last!) to customers of its water provider members through the end of July. Instructions in the kit will help you determine how much water your sprinkler uses and create an efficient watering schedule.

Who's my water provider?

The Consortium and its 20 water provider members recently updated its drinking water advisory look-up tool. The tool can be used to determine who your water provider is, and if you are located within the affected area w hen a drinking water advisory or boil water notice is issued by a local water provider . Each year, the Consortium updates water provider boundaries to ensure that the valuable information is up to date.
