Building Opportunity:
A Capacity Building and Development Course for M/WBE and Non-Profit Affordable Housing Developers
The City is committed to increasing the participation of minority and women-owned business and non-profit developers in building affordable housing and diverse neighborhoods.

To help create a pathway to success for M/WBEs and non-profits and strengthen New York City's affordable housing development industry, the NYC Departments of Housing Preservation & Development and Small Business Services are offering a free capacity building course for mid-level M/WBE and non-profit developers seeking networking opportunities and exposure to best practices in affordable housing development.
Building Opportunity
The classes will be presented by panels of HPD and private subject matter experts and will include topics that will lead you through the steps of affordable housing development:
  • Development Finance
  • HPD/HDC Financing Programs
  • Gap Financing
  • Site Control, Zoning, and Land Use Approvals
  • Project and Construction Management
  • Property Management and Marketing
  • Special Needs Housing
  • Public/Private Partnerships and Joint Ventures
