You'll hear from innovative leaders representing a variety of Southern California water technology hubs and organizations. 


Dennis P. Calvert, BioLargo/SustainOC

Dennis Calvert is  president, CEO and board chair of BioLargo, a sustainable science, technology and full-service environmental engineering company delivering clean water, clean air and advanced wound care. He serves on the Board of SustainOC on its Emerging Technology Committee and is affiliated with its Sustainability Council. He holds a B.A. in Economics.


Len Hering, Center for Sustainable Energy

Rear Admiral Len Hering (U.S. Navy, retired), is the president of the Center for Sustainable Energy, a 501(c)3 accelerating the transition to a sustainable world powered by clean energy. A prominent sustainability leader, his passion is educating people on taking responsible actions to secure energy independence and preserve water, air quality and other resources.


Aayushi Jain, Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator

Aayushi Jain is the water cluster lead at Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator. She also leads outreach efforts for the DOE-funded SoCal Edge Program and supports the research and strategy team. Previously, Aayushi worked at Sustainable Silicon Valley, addressing on-site wastewater treatment policy and technology research. She holds a BS in Chemical Engineering.


Cary Lowe, San Diego Water Tech Alliance

Cary Lowe is the co-founder of the San Diego Water Tech Alliance. He is a land use lawyer with 40 years of experience representing public agencies, developers, builders, Indian tribes and non-profit organizations, involving a broad range of land use and environmental issues, including water resources. Cary holds a Ph.D. in urban planning.


Carl Nettleton, Nettleton Strategies   Moderator

Carl Nettleton heads Nettleton Strategies, an environmental policy firm specializing in oceans, water, energy, climate, and U.S. Mexico border issues. His stories appear in the Huffington Post, Triple Pundit, and the Independent Voter Network. As a speaker, moderator and facilitator he has appeared in numerous international, national, regional and local forums .

Policy and Infrastructure Updates
