Hello Yarn Cloud friends,
Welcome to the Fall newsletter.  We're delighted to share with you our 2017 fall schedule with new classes and some much requested encores new products and our newest yarns.

News on our Charity efforts:
  • News on our Great Yarn Giveaway and Hats for the Homeless program: We want to thank all our generous donors who continue to de-stash their yarns with us. We already have a wonderful start of several boxes of finished hat for Hats for the homeless and Underserved. This year we are expanding our program to include elementary school children since it was brought to our attention how many children seem to be without warm items.  That means we'll take all size hats this year and we'll be looking for volunteers to hand them out at whatever schools their children attend. This year's Great Yarn Giveaway will be held on "I Love Yarn Day", October 14th
  • Knitted Knockers Program:  We were able to send over 100 completed knockers to the national office during the last 6 months.  Woohoo!  You ladies rock!.  And now we are partnering with the Knitwell organization to bring all completed items directly to a local hospital for women here in Virginia.  New patterns are available at our front desk or on-line for knitting flat, knitting from the back (easier) and crochet.  The national office has put out a list of acceptable yarns for this project. When you buy any from the Yarn Cloud for this effort you'll receive a 10% discount.

With your help "Stitching it forward" has become a very real and successful community effort. Thank you.

Looking forward to your next visit.

Hats for the Homeless:
We are again beginning our collection of warm knitted items.  Please consider donating knitted/crochet hats, mittens, gloves, scarfs and anything warm for those who will be facing the cold next winter.  We will ensure that all hand-made items are handed out to actual people who need them starting November 2016.  Need a pattern? Ravelry has over 20,000 free knitting and crochet patterns for you to choose from.

Knitted Knockers:
We are a proud sponsor of the Knitted Knockers program. Knitted Knockers are special handmade breast prosthesis for women who have undergone mastectomies or other procedures to the breast.
We provide the pattern, free instructions and a 10% discount for the cotton yarns purchased to make these necessary items.

Chemo Caps:
We have been asked to suggest patterns for chemo caps.  TNNA ( The National Needlearts Association) has teamed up with  Woman's Day magazine to offer two free chemo cap patterns on their website - one knit and one crochet.  Included is the mailing address if you want to donate your caps directly to Halos of Hope.  Many more patterns can be found on Ravelry  (we found 453 knit patterns) using the words "Chemo caps" and sorting by clicking the "free" button.  Don't forget to choose knitting or crochet in the sort function.
