Dear Animal Advocate,
Registration is now open for Michigan's second annual No Kill Conference scheduled for September 21 in Lansing. The No Kill movement is a proven model based on innovative programs and services that annually saves the lives of tens of thousands of healthy and treatable dogs and cats who would otherwise be killed. Join shelters, rescues, animal control workers, veterinarians, students, volunteers, policy makers, and compassionate community members to learn ways to save lives in your community by implementing the No Kill strategy. Expert speakers will include Nathan Winograd (No Kill Advocacy Center), Don Cleary (National Canine Research Council), and Stacey Coleman (Animal Farm Foundation). In addition to introducing the new Michigan Rescue Certification program, the conference offers sessions on reducing shelter intake, increasing adoptions through innovative marketing, implementing TNR programs, and other facets of the No Kill Equation. Success stories from several shelters around the state will be shared. Veterinarian-sponsored sessions on compassion fatigue, Safe Humane Chicago, and building relationships between veterinarians and animal control will be offered. The 2012 Awards Program and Banquet will be held Thursday evening to recognize shelters with the best save rates in the state. Early registration (thru 5/31) for ONLY $79 includes a FREE bonus of the Thursday, September 20 Opening Welcome session, discussion of Michigan's current animal-related legislation, and break-out sessions with the three expert speakers. Student and group discounts are available. |
