Registration Open for Inaugural Club Champions Cup!

Registration is open for the Club Champions Cup presented by Massage Envy!  The team event features four players from your club and a $10,000 purse for PGA Professionals.  Teams are guaranteed a spot in there local qualifier if they register before May 2, 2017; after that open registration will be available until the May 19, 2017 deadline.

Colorado PGA Bracket Challenge Decided in Championship Game

Willard Benner, PGA Life Member edged out Ryan Bakken, PGA Assistant Professional at Thorn Creek Golf Course to win the Colorado PGA Bracket Challange.  Both players earned 139 points but  Benner beat out Bakken based on the total combined score of the championship game.  Finishing in third place was Andrew Firman, PGA Assistant Professional at Aspen Golf Course.

Colorado PGA REACH Awards Growth of the Game Grants

It is the mission of the Colorado PGA REACH Growth of the Game Grant Program to provide financial assistance to facilities within the geographic boundaries of the Colorado Section PGA, that employ PGA members or apprentices in good standing, to develop and/or significantly enhance Growth of the Game programs that will attract and retain new golfers.
 
This year, fifteen deserving PGA Professionals and their programs were awarded grants.

West Chapter News
Register Today for West Chapter Spring Meeting

The West Chapter Spring Meeting is set for Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Bookcliff Country Club.  Gerry Brown, Director of Handicapping and Course Rating with the Colorado Golf Association will present a condensed version of the Golf Genius seminar that was conducted at the upcoming Spring Business Meeting.
Three Spots Up for Grabs on West Chapter Board of Directors

There are  three spots to fill on the West Chapter Board of Directors at the upcoming West Chapter Spring Meeting.  Two spots will be full term and will run from the Fall Meeting in 2017, ending with the Fall Meeting in 2020.  
 
The third member will fill the position that Brett vacated when he joined the officers of the Chapter, this term will begin immediately and will run until the Fall Meeting in 2018.

The Colorado PGA is now accepting program requests for the fall semester. PGA Professionals and Educators are welcome to submit a program request form. The fall program request window will open on April 1st and close on April 30th, 2017.

Assistants Championship Registration Now Open

Registration is now open for the National Car Rental Colorado Assistant Professional Championship set for July 31-Aug. 1 at Highlands Ranch Golf Club.  The event is open to Class A-8 Members and all Apprentices must be eligibly employed and in good standing at the time of entry and their Section's entry deadline date.

Cole, Keffer Tie for Valley CC Pro Am Victory

Rick Cole, PGA Head Professional at Eaton Country Club and Geoff Keffer, Instructor at the Greater Golfer Development Center tied for the victory at the Valley Country Club Pro Am on Monday, April 10, 2017.  Cole and Keffer fired three-under-par 69's to finish three clear of third place finisher, Chris Johnson who fired an even-par 72.

Match Play Registration Heating Up

Registration is ramping up for some of our most exciting events of the year, our Individual Match Play Championship!  We will continue using the pod system so that members can play their matches in a convenient location and will be assured three matches for the event.  Make sure to sign up early as the May 5, 2017 registration deadline will be here before you know it!

Update Your Employment by April 20, 2017

If you are changing your employment for 2017, don't forget to make that change at PGA.org. This should be done even if you have left employment and new employment has not been secured yet. You should also update changes to your address, phone, and email. This will ensure that you are listed correctly in the Member Directory App and receive any email in a timely manner. If you have questions or need assistance, please call the Colorado PGA Section Office at (303) 681-0742.

USGA Discontinues State Team Championship

After a 22-year run, the USGA State Team Championships will be retired at the end of the year.
 
 "The USGA continually evaluates its championships and the way in which they are conducted," said Stuart Francis, USGA Championship Committee chairman. "The decision to discontinue the State Team Championships follows a thorough review and analysis, including consultation with representatives from state and regional golf associations."

PGA of America Expands PGA Junior Golf Camps to more than 90 Locations Across US

The PGA of America's PGA Junior Golf Camps for boys and girls ages 6-17 is expanding this year from 75 to more than 90 locations across the country-and will also double the number of Competitive Edge Overnight Camps offered for advanced junior golfers this summer.

Earn MSR Points by Watching Videos from 2017 PGA Merchandise Show

PGA members can receive two (2) PGA Education MSR by watching a video from the list and taking an assessment at the conclusion of the video.
 
MSR credit may be earned only one time for any online MSR course. In order to earn MSR credit, you must score a 70% or higher on the assessment.
