Important Announcement regarding Reimagining Service

September 12, 2013

Dear Service Colleague:

I wanted to share an exciting update with you regarding Reimagining Service.

This fall, Reimagining Service will move to a new home: the Presidio Institute. Formerly known as the National Center for Service and Innovative Leadership, the Presidio Institute is bringing together the best thinking from America's Traditions of Service - including nonprofit service, public service, volunteerism, and philanthropy - to "cross train" professionals capable of solving the most pressing social challenges of our time. When the Presidio Institute is fully built out, it will offer a series of programming, where the Institute will have space for 100 employees from like-minded organizations, plenary meeting space for 500 individuals, lodging for 500 participants on-site, and events that will engage 100,000 community members per year. The Presidio Institute is an initiative of the Presidio Trust.

Since it was launched in 2009, Reimagining Service has been hosted by Points of Light (POL). Over the past three years, the team at POL has provided valuable advice, insights, and thought partnership. We recognize that we would not be primed for the next stage of the Reimagining Service journey without POL's ongoing support and commitment to this work. As we move forward, POL will continue to be represented on the Reimagining Service Council.

The move to the Presidio Institute represents not just a new home for Reimagining Service, but these additional opportunities:

  • Integration of the Reimagining Service principles into the core approach and offerings of the Presidio Institute;
  • Focus on cross-sector leadership to address community challenges;
  • Ability to target leaders across sectors and various traditions of service.

As always, with these types of transitions there are many items we need to address, but I hope you share my excitement, as well as that of the Reimagining Service Council, about this new direction. We hope you'll stay connected to Reimagining Service through our website or by following and interacting with us on Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn. We'll use these vehicles to share further updates as we move forward on this next phase of Reimagining Service's work.

Thanks for your commitment to driving social change through volunteerism and service. The work of Reimagining Service would not be possible without you.

Best,
