New Case Study on the High Impact Volunteer Engagement Pilot

The collection of case studies developed by Reimagining Service is growing; this week, we've added our eleventh case study about a statewide initiative in New Hampshire.

The High Impact Volunteer Engagement (HIVE) pilot was seeded by the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation as a unique initiative that was implemented with  the expertise of two cross-sector partners: JFFixler Group and the New Hampshire Center for Nonprofits. As part of the initiative, 10 nonprofit organizations were selected to participate in a year-long program to expand capacity through skills-based volunteer engagement. The impact has been far-reaching: the 10 organizations are now equipped with powerful new methods of thinking about strategic volunteer engagement to increase organizational effectiveness for greater outreach and social impact. New Resource: Guide to Hosting a Reimagining Service Summit

Reimagining Service is pleased to release a new resource, the Guide to Hosting a Reimagining Service Summit, that looks at what happens when a diverse group of community members come together for a day-long Summit on service.

By learning from three summits that have already happened across the country, this guide offers easy-to-implement ideas on the planning and outreach process, session designs, and lessons learned. The goal of a summit is proactive thinking about change and evolution in the volunteer sector, not simply growth.

What We're Paying Attention To:
  • Points of Light has released a new infographic on the Service Enterprise Initiative. We're excited to learn that over 60% of Service Enterprises report they had an increase in both volunteers and skills-based volunteers.

  • The new Twitter handle for the national Service Enterprise Initiative: @SrvicEnterprise.

  • The Giving in Numbers: 2014 Edition report from CECP (formerly known as the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy), in association with The Conference Board, was recently released and illuminates trends on corporate giving and employee engagement patterns. Check out the interesting infographic about partnerships with nonprofits, pro bono service, and more.
Points of Light Blog Post from a Company Leader

Amy Chapman, Capital One's community affairs manager for central Virginia, offers her perspective on Capital One's decision to invest in the Service Enterprise Initiative in partnership with HandsOn Greater Richmond:

"It's not only about hearts and hands, you need to have data to show how volunteer work will impact the community and the organization," Chapman said. "Do your homework to understand a company's strategy for volunteerism and show how your work aligns with that." Read more.
