BARBARA ALTMAN TO HOST SEN. WHELAN'S 'TWITTER TOWN HALL MEETING'

Residents Can "Tweet" Questions for a Unique Town Hall Experience

(Northfield) - Senator Jim Whelan today announced that radio personality Barbara Altman from WOND AM will host Senator Whelan's first-ever "Twitter Town Hall" meeting on Monday, July 9.

"I am very excited that Barbara has volunteered her time and expertise as a media personality to host this unique town hall event," said Senator Whelan. "The 'Twitter Town Hall' will be a fun and convenient way for my constituents to engage me on the issues that matter most to Atlantic County residents.  I look forward to a thoughtful dialogue as we 'crowd-source' new ideas for legislation or help our constituents navigate the sometimes confusing bureaucracy of State government.  At the end of the day, this is about creating a new avenue of communication for residents and their elected representatives."

Residents can send Senator Whelan their questions by tweeting to him @SenJimWhelan with the hashtag #twittertownhall or by emailing Senator Whelan at SenWhelan@njleg.org with the subject line "Twitter Town Hall."

Ms. Altman's radio show, "Barbara Altman's Front Porch," can be heard weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on 1400 WOND AM.

The questions will be compiled and Senator Whelan will be answering them on Monday, July 9 at 3 p.m. The town hall will be streamed live online and will also be archived so that residents can watch the "Twitter Town Hall" at their convenience.
