Sprint for the finish!
Then party in our beer garden!

Thank you for joining us for the 2014 San Diego Triathlon Classic! We want to help you be as prepared as possible for the race, so we'll be sending you detailed information about the race in the weeks leading up to race day.

In previous emails, we've discussed the expo, race morning, the swim course, the bike course, and the run course. In this email, we're discussing the best portion of the event, the finish and post race festival!

Prepare for the Finish
Congratulations, you're just about finished with your race! Remember to look up and smile for the camera as you cross the finish line. An excited finisher's photo is a much better memento of your race than one where you're checking your Garmin. Our whole race is chip-timed, so we've already recorded your PR for you, it's okay if your Garmin's a little off.

Once you've finished our race, be sure to enjoy some post-race food, beer, wine, and mimosas. Then hang out for the awards ceremony, before removing your gear from transition.

You'll leave transition with your gear through the bike out chute. Security will match your bib number to the number attached to your bike, so be sure both of these numbers are still easily readable. For the security of your belongings, friends and family members will not be allowed into the transition area at any time, even after you've finished.
What to Expect
Finishing
You've completed your final loop of the run (the first lap, if you are competing in the Sprint distance, or the second lap, if you're an Olympic distance competitor). Head down the finish chute and sprintSeriously, give it everything you've got- you never know who's close on your heels.

Once you've crossed the finish line, be sure to get a finisher's medal from the lovely volunteers working the finish line. Then remove your timing chip (or let the volunteers remove it) and put it in the provided bins. It is your responsibility to be sure your chip is returned after the race, you'll be fined if it's missing when all the chips go back to Gemini Timing.
Post-Race Food

Once you've returned your timing chip and receive your medal, be sure to enjoy some food. Sorry, no family members are allowed in the finish line food area, athletes only. We know you'll be hungry after the race, so we want to make sure there's plenty for all.

Beer, Wine, & Mimosa Garden

Once you've eaten, then head over to our Beer, Wine, and Mimosa garden for celebratory post-race drinks. PLEASE NOTE: You must have your race bib number still attached to you, be of legal drinking age, and have a photo ID with you to enter our Beer Garden. There are no exceptions.

We'll be featuring beer from Stone Brewing Company, as well as wine and champagne from Barefoot Wine and Bubbly. Hang out in the Beer Garden and cheer on your friends as they finish. Before you know it, it'll be time for our awards ceremony.

Please Drink Responsibly
We invite you to enjoy yourself and celebrate your accomplishment in our beer garden. But, please, do not drink and drive. If you do not have a friend or family member to drive you home, just stop by the registration tent, let us know and we'll gladly call you a cab.
Awards Ceremony
Awards go to the top three finishers in each category, including Relays. We have some really awesome new awards this year, so be sure to stick around to pick-up your award if you've won.
Removing Your Gear from Transition

The transition area will close at 12:30 PM, so be sure to have your bike and gear removed before then. You will leave transition via the bike out chute.

To leave transition area with your gear, security will match your bib number to the number attached to your bike. Be sure both of these numbers are still easily readable. For the security of your belongings, friends and family members will not be allowed into the transition area.

That's it! We've filled you in on all of the details for the race. You're now an expert at the San Diego Triathlon Classic. Still have more questions about the race? Visit our FAQ page for the answers to those most commonly asked.
