April & May is the best time to see and hear birds
in Rose Canyon. Rose Canyon is a greenbelt
that provides a haven for resident and migrating birds.

Birds from the tropics and northern Mexico have arrived

Some are in spectacular breeding plumage. Some will stay to mate, build nests, and raise their young before heading south again in the fall. Others will stop to rest and feed in Rose Canyon, then continue on their way further north - as far as Canada.

Birds that live here year round
Are singing to attract mates and establish territories, building nests, feeding young.

Birds that overwinter here are preparing to leave

They will migrate north as far as Canada to breed , then return in the fall.
Never been on a bird walk? Spring migration is the best time to try it out.
