We hosted a Brunch on the Boulevard on Sunday, May 20th, and will be hosting three evening events this summer. Reservations are being taken now for all three dates.

Check out the newest pizza joint in town!
Sam’s Boardwalk Style Pizza, named after owner Tom Thornton’s youngest child, is a fresh take on an old favorite. Located at 31 Brookline Boulevard, it replaced Jano’s Pizza in December 2017. Tom owned and operated Jano’s for several years, but he wanted bring it up to speed with his successful Ardmore pizza joint, Sam’s Brick Oven Pizza.
Sam’s Boardwalk Style Pizza specializes in boardwalk style pizza, where the cheese is put on before the sauce. Additionally, Sam’s offers a beer shop, with over 100 varieties of beer. The reinvention has been going well for the restaurant so far, with a connecting doorway put between Sam’s and one of Tom's other restaurants, JD McGillicuddy's.

As an owner of three successful restaurants, Tom is definitely not a stranger to the business. The Thornton family has always been food service business, and Tom grew up helping out with his father’s restaurant in Havertown. After a short break around and after college, Tom followed in his family’s footsteps and opened JD McGillicuddy’s in 1994.
Tom has lived here for four decades, and he holds Havertown very close to his heart. “There’s such a great sense of community,” Tom explains. “It’s a place where everyone can feel welcome. People come from everywhere and end up staying because of how family-oriented it is and how people are always there to pick each other up. If you fall down on your luck, these people will be there for you, and that makes for an amazing place to live.”

Look for Sam’s Boardwalk Style Pizza on Brookline Boulevard and pick up a great pizza and refreshing brew!

HPED's Inaugural Haverford Home & Garden Show
was a big Success!
The inaugural Haverford Home & Garden Show, held on Sunday, April 15th at the Community Recreation & Environmental Center (CREC) at Haverford Reserve, was a big success! In spite of the cold, wet and windy day, 1500 people came to the show, and the feedback from visitors and vendors was overwhelmingly positive!

Over 80 vendor booths and tables were set up, both inside and outside of the CREC. Numerous displays of home & garden projects and products were set up, as well as a Tiny House to tour. More than 20 presentations and workshops were offered, there was a Furniture Flip Contest, and we raffled off thousands of dollars in door prizes!
