ODP's Rick Smith: Budget Briefing
Rick Smith, ODP Director of the Bureau of Financial Management and Program Support will help explain the newly enacted ODP budget and how it will provide additional support for people on the waiting list, annualize last year's investments and plan for next year's FY 2019/20 budget recommendations.



Ben Laudermilch, Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Executive Director for Housing, will present on housing services in conjunction with these broader housing strategies and how people with intellectual disability or autism can benefit from this strategic initiative.
The PA Department of Human Services’ (DHS) five-year housing has designed a comprehensive plan and strategy to connect Pennsylvanians to affordable, integrated and supportive housing. DHS hopes to leverage internal and external resources (including PAR members) and collaborate with all levels of government and private agencies to make housing resources and services more accessible and available to a wide range of individuals served by DHS.

Bill Lenahan, who has served as PAR's General Counsel for nearly two decades will be honored for his years of service, dedication and professional guidance to PAR.

Bill has been a valuable resource for the association, providing insightful legal counsel on key strategic questions. He has been a tr ue advocate for PAR's mission and has promoted the values of person-centered services for people with intellectual disability or autism.
Healthy Relationships, Risk Management

The issues of sexual and other abuse, neglect, harassment, bullying, and how to prevent these behaviors remains a top priority for PAR and its members. At the other end of the spectrum, facilitating and supporting healthy relationships is a critical part of Everyday Lives .
PAR leaders, including SPIN President and CEO and PAR Chair Kathy Brown-McHale and Shirley Walker, PAR President and CEO will discuss PAR efforts to sustain focused attention on this issue, including updates on the passage legislation that would make it easier to prosecute cases of caregiver abuse of individuals.

Shirley Walker, PAR President and CEO will discuss emerging issues and provider concerns on various topics including:

  1. Implementation of New Regulations and Rates within the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) and their impact upon serving people with ID/A and significant disabilities
  2. The successful passage of Employment First legislation
  3. The emergence of Remote Supports for people with ID/A and its potential utilization in PA
