Dear AFA Friend,

This time of year as we celebrate our graduates, you may be wondering what opportunities your student may experience after graduating from AFA.

Ad Fontes Academy's Recent Alumni
It's summer time! And, more often than not, it's also the season for weddings.

Many recent Alumni from Ad Fontes will be getting married this year, too.

Interestingly, a few of our alumni found their spouses at Ad Fontes, and one couple was kind enough to share a wedding photo with us!

2011 graduates Kyle and Mary Joyce (pictured right), were married in 2015.

Below is a look at their life since graduation.

Kyle Perry and Mary Joyce (Ball) Perry, '11

Kyle -
  • Virginia Tech: 2015, B.S. in Building Construction, Magna Cum Laude.
  • Has worked for three years at Jenkins Restorations in Atlanta, Georgia as a Project Manager completing various home restoration projects.
Mary Joyce -
  • James Madison University: BA in International Business, concentration in Marketing; Minors in English and Business French, 2015.
  • Works for Peachtree Publishers, an independent children's book publisher.

An avid reader, working in publishing was Mary Joyce's dream after graduation. She used her business and marketing degrees to develop Peachtree's digital marketing program and presence, the modern digital side of an ancient industry.

Kyle and Mary Joyce Perry now reside in Atlanta, Georgia.
Mathew Fultz, '13 and Patricia Chenette, '12
Matthew and Patricia are getting married next month! Here is their update:

Matthew -
  • George Mason University: Electrical Engineering with a concentration in signal processing, 2018.
  • Will work as a Wireless Network Research Engineer for MITRE Corporation in McLean, Virginia.
Fultz Chenette Alumni
Matthew writes: "AFA was extremely influential in my choice of engineering as teachers such as Mr. Carey, Mrs. Smith, and Dr. Schultz stirred my interests in the sciences.

AFA taught me about leadership and diligence, both in the classroom and on their sports teams (baseball and basketball).

AFA also taught me various life lessons, such as how to swing dance and change a tire. I have many fond memories from high school and I'm thankful my parents originally forced me to attend, and for the opportunity to have attended a Christ exalting, academically rigorous school."

Patricia -
  • George Mason University, 2016, Honors College, BS Nursing, Cum Laude. Certified Paramedic.
  • Board Certified RN in Fairfax, VA and Blue Ridge Fellow, 2016-2017. Part- time mentor to young women at AFA.

Patricia says: “I felt prepared to have conversations with people with different perspectives because I had learned the basics of different worldviews/ethical standards and developed a level of understanding to be sensitive and ask intelligent questions. This set me up for some fascinating conversations in college and gave me the confidence to start a spiritual discussion group with non-believers where they could ask questions in a non-judgmental environment.”
Zachary Solomon, '12
  • Baylor University: Philosophy and Economics Double Major, English Minor, 2015
  • Graduated college in 3 years, followed by a 9 month discipleship program through a globally renowned church.
  • As a way to give back to the community, Zachary taught 6th grade full time at a classical Christian School, Valor Preparatory Academy, in Waco, TX.
  • Works full time at MultiTracks.com as an Audio Engineer, making tracks for artists like Hillsong, Bethel, Elevation, Vertical Church Band, and many others.

Zachary says: "I also tour with my band, Honest Men, in which I play drums. Our newest singles, “Mad Love” and “I’m Okay” were featured on New Music Friday on Spotify and reached over 100,000 streams in just a week. We just got through touring with COIN, Colony House, and King’s Kaleidoscope.
I am thankful for Ad Fontes Academy and the level of excellence to which they instruct and prepare kids for college education."

Zachary will be married in November of this year.
