A Note From Pastor Rall: Renewing Your Strength
The Old Testament reading for this week, Isaiah 40:21-31, begins a new section of Isaiah's prophetic message with a powerful affirmation of what God has done and can do.  His great power, which is unlimited and undiminished, provided comfort and hope for God's people who had been experiencing His judgment in the exile in Babylon.
Isaiah assures those who doubt God's promises or His power that there is no other god who is comparable to Yahweh.  He is the very One who "stretches out the heavens like a curtain," who "brings princes to nothing."  He weighs the mountains on a scale, holds the crust of the earth in a basket, and measures out the waters in the hallow of His hand.  To Him the nations are like a drop in a bucket and the islands like fine dust.  He is the Creator, who created the starry host, called them all by name, and who can wither powerful nations with the breath of his nostrils ...continue reading
CONN ECT AT TIMOTHY
Call Committee Update
The Call Committee has conducted five SKYPE interviews with candidates from Connecticut, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Washington.  These five were selected from a list of 18 candidates nominated either by members of Timothy or our District President.
The next step is follow-up SKYPE interviews with these candidates during February.  The Pastors and Mark Thompson will observe these interviews.
The goal of the committee is to bring a recommendation to the Voters Assembly in early March.

Voters' Assembly
February 11, 2018,
9:30 am
Multi-Purpose Room
The Council recommends that the Voters Assembly approve the following motions:
1.         Approve the refinancing of a $510,000 loan on the commercial property for 15 years, at an interest rate of 4.5%.
2.         Approve a loan of $90,000 on the small house on Fyler Street for 15 years, at an interest rate of 4.5%.
3.         Approve a $50,000 line of credit to be used, if necessary, for unexpected maintenance expenses; interest rate is floating but currently 3.875%.
The parking lot is basically paid off, so it is not part of the commercial property loan, except as collateral for the loan.

STEWARDSHIP
Tax Benefits for Lutheran School Families!
As Lutheran schools throughout the country celebrate 2018 National Lutheran Schools Week (Jan. 21-28), schools in Missouri are hoping to benefit from a new tax measure.
Under the new federal tax overhaul, Missouri families who invest in the Missouri MOST 529 education savings plan program can now use those accounts to pay for private K-12 tuition up to $10,000 per year per student without state tax consequences. The tax benefits for Lutheran school families are two-fold. In addition to withdrawing earnings from the MOST 529 plans tax-free, they can also deduct up to $8,000 a year in contributions from their state taxes. (For more information, contact MissouriMost.org or your tax professional.)
"This is welcome news for so many families in Missouri," said Sue Nahmensen, CEO of the St. Louis-based Lutheran Elementary School Association (LESA), which administers scholarships and support to Lutheran schools in Missouri. "So many of our families struggle and sacrifice to pay that tuition bill because they believe in quality faith-based education for their children. This will hopefully ease that burden."

Share Your Gifts-Egg Hunt Leadership Needed
Holly Feldman has agreed to help direct the 2018 Egg Hunt.  We need a number of volunteers to help make this day special.  Please talk to DCE Mark Thompson if you have questions.  Please contact Holly (ivyholly@hotmail.com) to volunteer or sign up on the registration website once it is up and running.  The date for EGG HUNT 2018 is March 24.  We are seeking someone who would like to lead the 2019 Egg Hunt who can learn with Holly this year.  Our annual Egg Hunt outreach is an important annual event for our children and young families.  It is a great opportunity for our church to serve our neighbors and be visible in our community.
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Sunday School Notes for week of February 4
Paul & Timothy - Acts 15:1-16:5
This Sunday School lesson teaches children about serving by looking at the lives of Paul and Timothy.  Just as many in Paul's day thought, we think we must do something to be saved. Yet the answer is always Jesus, Jesus, only Jesus, whose resurrection from the dead sealed our salvation and absolved the world. Questions for discussion can include "How are you like Timothy?" and "How are we saved from our sin?"
Memory Verse:
We believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus. Acts 15:11
