Record Number of Volunteers for our MLK Day Outreach Project
United Way NSV celebrated The 17th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Outreach Project on January 18th, 2016!

This year, United Way NSV had participation from more than 100 volunteers from John Handley High School Interact Club, Shenandoah University, NAACP, and Boys and Girls Club of NSV!

The event began with an invocation from Millbrook High School student and NAACP member, Samontha Opont, who reminded the attendees the reason we volunteer to help others on MLK Day. Student volunteers then assembled and delivered 500 resource bags to twelve neighborhoods in Winchester City. The bags were filled with supplies, tools and information, valuable to area residents who might need a hand. Donated items came from Rubbermaid Products, Shenandoah Smiles, area agencies and United Way NSV.

United Way NSV is excited to commemorate MLK Day again next year for our 18th consecutive year.

Get Involved - Impact Grants!
Did you know that all of the undesignated money we raise is distributed through Impact Grants based on the recommendations of area volunteers?

Fund Distribution volunteers represent the contributing public and help to insure that donated funds are well spent. Volunteers work together to review five to nine grant applicants and recommend monetary levels of support for specified programs.

Now is the time to sign up as a  volunteer to sit on our Fund Distribution Committee! Sign up here to direct where a year's worth of fundraising will go!
